What_If Productions, a computer gaming company in Rowley, Massachussetts,
has an immediate opening for one or two full-time 3d Artists/Animators.

Experience with different 2D and 3D computer art tools is a must. The
artists will be responsible for choosing and implementing appropriate art
techniques and developing new techniques to create cutting edge visuals.
Good team oriented thinking, problem-solving, communication, and time
management skills are all valuable. Responsibilities may also include
assisting with training of other artists.

Our current priority is a Sony Playstation product that will also be
released on the N64 and PC platforms. This game is sci-fi in orientation
and will require many minutes of animated cut-scenes, textured
environments, modeled characters, and more. This game is our first
commercial offering.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Vision, passion, enthusiasm, and genuine talent & ability. (We consider
these traits more important than a degree or years of schooling).
Someone who can breathe "life" into their creations and who truly enjoys
what they do.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability
to prioritize tasks.
Must be willing to receive art direction and have the ability to work well
under pressure and as part of a team.
Must be able to work with a minimum of daily supervision.
Able to interface with Art Director and development team as needed to bring
projects to completion.
Able to develop mastery of development tools and expertise in creative
processes/disciplines, 2D and/or 3D.
Must be versatile in most aspects of game art, from 3D modeling to creating
fantastic textures, our desired artist will possess the ability to do
various artistic duties on a given project.
The ability to work at a professional level and be self-sufficient when
necessary.
Experience designing 3D levels for games is a plus.

This position will also leverage traditional art skills, including strong
figure drawing skills. A background in traditional animation is a big plus.

PORTFOLIO:

Portfolio should demonstrate excellence in: modeling, lighting, texturing,
staging, and animation techniques.

The more hats you can wear, the better.

A DEMO REEL is to your advantage, but not required. If you have work that
demonstrates your skills, just figure out a way to get it to me (contact me
regarding compatibility issues etc.) and I will be happy check it out. I
am more interested in your artistic ability than overall presentation of
materials at this point.

Knowledge of specific _animation_ software is not required (thorough
knowledge of Photoshop is), but we are particularly looking for people with
established _character animation skills_. You should have an understanding
of movement. A well controlled stick figure will demonstrate your skills
better than an intricately modeled, but poorly animated object any day.

SoftImage skills are a major advantage.

OTHER STUFF:

Job will require _relocation_ to the North Eastern Mass--New
Hampshire--Southern Maine area (within a specified range of What_If HQ).

Our Virtual Studio option allows you to work from the comforts of your home.

Will we consider freelancers/part-timers and pooling out work?

Yes. By judging where we are when we reach various stages of product
development, we will consider hiring outsiders to ease workload.

If you're still interested, send mailto:wha...@scozone.com expressing why
you are interested in the position and why you might consider yourself
right for the position.

Applicants will not be considered without samples.

Upon request, I will be happy to send you more detailed information about
the company, work options, etc. I will also be happy to send you the
contact address to which you can send your Demo Reels, other proof of
talent, and resumes.

Best regards,
