What do you think? Lot's of mixed views on this > one so not sure whether I'll pick it up or not. > > Yeah, I did buy it. It definitely picks up where Q2 leaves off. Seeing some of the old Q2 in the stuff in Q4 brings on that little wash of nostalgia...and excitement. I was pleasantly surprised at just HOW well it runs. It looks good. It carries a touch of noir in the same vein as Q2 and I LIKE THAT. Believe me, to see some of the symbols, my mind plays the sounds from Q2 :) The Stroggs use the same lingo as Q2 stroggs. But, they look a ton better. I like it. I chose next to highest difficulty and the Stroggs are handing me my old butt at times for it! LOL! The sheer realism in some of the objects in Far Cry still amazes me. The old Jap aircraft, the carrier, gas cylinders, bombs etc. I haven't seen anything in Q4 THAT convincing yet. But iD didn't intend it that way. Except in the characters. The SP game is good, IMO. It's Q2 the second half with modern stuff. That's good from my end. Oh, the AI in this one actually does things. heh! That raised my eyebrows a bit to see it working :) Multiplayer. Yeeehah! It's nothing like Doom3, it's visuals and gameplay make me think Q3 and UT2004 combined!!! It's definitely got hope, and it's very F.A.S.T. online too! SO, we need to start talking about it in alt.games.quake2 since it IS the sequel to Q2? NOBODY is talking about it there, ironically. I see posts here, a.g.h-l, a.g.q3 and a.g.q. McG.
