Net_SendPack error on XP

Hey im running WindowsXP Home edition and my quake2 quits with the
Net_SendPacket error message, we all had quake do that sometime but its been
happening about every hour of gameplay or so everytime and it's only been
happening since i got this new pc with XP Home on it which is using the same
quake copy as my old pc, someone help :(
