I have a full version of Quake for DOS (paid for). The problem is after about 15-20 minutes of game play the screen goes black and I have to quit and restart the game. Has anyone heard of this problem before and/or experienced it themselves? And has anyone found a solution to the problem? Thanks, Colin

Sorry about that, I did't realize you were running DOS. They are Windows ports only. "CMC" <cmconrad@eastlink.ca> wrote in message news:lg9ee3p89gukq3bnpukfkl4cqkt20ktk2s@4ax.com... > >http://www.celephais.net/fitzquake/ > > Do you know if this version will run under DOS? > > Cheers, > Colin

If you have a screen saver or power down set for 15-20 minutes of being idle, it may not recognize that you're using the computer when in DOS mode. I played Quake for years in DOS mode on a Windows 95 PC, and that's the only thing I can think of that would make it go black after 15 minutes.

I, however,am not in DOS mode, I am running it on a DOS machine. Thanks for the thought though. I have played many games for longer that 15 minutes and not had this problem. Cheers, Colin

My best advice at this time is to experiment with the following console commands: - gamma - vid_mode, vid_testmode, vid_forcemode, menu_video (vid_describemodes to list available choices) - v_cshift (default = 1 1 1 1)
