I might feel that way too, but I never played it. The first FPS I ever got
was quake3, and I've stuck with it over the years. Everything else just
doesn't feel right.

Yeah I got hooked on the Doom shareware levels when I was in 7th or 8th
grade, and been an avid FPS gamer ever since! Although, being the only
FPS'er I knew, I didn't jump on the mouselook boat until after playing Quake
2, and I played some guys on a LAN... I held my own pretty well considering
I was using keyboard only, but after I grabbed a mouse, it was like my game
stepped up about 5 levels

Yeah, same here... I'm sure you remember the days when I was a keyboarder
getting 10 FPS on Q2 ;) LOL

The sidescrollers? I played the download versions. I thought that was
APOGEE software? Got them from local BBS's. WAY back when :) Remember

Heretic was my first FPS game. After playing that, Doom was a big
disappointment. I kept trying to look up and down, aim at things, etc.
and didn't realize you couldn't do those things in Doom. LOL

I got Hexen when it first came out, and it was so confusing to me at the
time that I just gave up on it. I finally finished it about a year or
two ago.

ROTT was probably an acquired taste. It got more interesting after you
got further into it.

Blood and Duke 3D are still the most fun games I've ever played. I
can't think of a newer FPS that can make you laugh so much.

Heh! I can just picture John Carmack coding for those Commander Keen games
:) They were fun little games. Got my very first joystick ever to play
them. Mouse would have been better!

I understand the "feel" thing. Quake 2 does have it for me for sure,
especially in multi. Q3 has it, but not as good as Q2, IMHO. If ya ever want
to go for a test spin Duck, I'll loan ya my copy. There were no cd keys back
then so one copy can work on any server.

Oh babe Blood rocks sadly not very well on Windows XP :(

BUT Blood II was very disappointed :( I barely play past one level....and
now I throw to bin :(
