I just started messing with the SP part of Q4, and the strogg don't seem to 
want to die.

Even on the easiest setting, I am emptying several clips into them, and they 
just keep shooting at me. How many shots should it take with the rifle to 
kill them?

That's weird, I've never had it do that. none of the ones you meet on the
first couple of levels should need more than half a clip.
