How do I program keys

Hi all,

I am a Quake 4 newbie. How can I program the keys on my keyboard to do
certain things in Quake 4? For example, can I program a key to choose
the best weapon available? Or program one of my mouse buttons to
automatically choose a specific weapon.

I've heard about things called scripts. Is this what I need? Where
can I get examples?

Thank you,
George (Quake 4 newbie)

You can program keys for weapons in the weapon setup area in the game, I
do it routinely, and I have the shotgun mapped to right mouse button.
You don't need a script to do these things. Good luck.
