Hi

I'm trying to get a multiplayer game going modem to modem with the TCP
option. I can connect with the computer that's hosting the game but the
console keeps repeating the message 'Server to Client Keepalive' and never
enters the game. Any idea how to fix?

with 56k modems you can not connect any higher than 33.6 modem to modem
quake via a modem will be very slow
try shutting down any unneccessary background programs
assigning more ram to quake

could be a firewall blocking quake I can't remember the ports quake uses
from memory it;s utp and veries depending on which quake your using (quake
quakeworld)

without knowing the details of how your connecting
what quake your playing dos quake winquake quakeworld
eg dos quake dialing directly, setup a tcp direct dailup conection using
winquake to play etc

Thx. I think it's not possible. I'm playing winquake trying to connect a
cable modem with a 56k modem. With the 56k modem computer hosting, the cable
modem computer just gets keepalive messages. With the cable modem computer
hosting, I can get in the game with the 56k modem computer but the delay is
a full 12 seconds i.e. fire the gun and 12 sec later it goes off. I'll try
shutting down as many background programs as possible but i aint optimistic.
