X cursor hiding crosshair in quake2 and nvidia geforce2 mx

Dear all,

I am using Redhat 9.0, Nvidia Geforce2 mx 64 MB and quake2 and I have
this annoying problem .

The 'X' pointer of X seems to hide the Crosshair of quake.so instead
of seeing a small crosshair, I see a big bulky 'X' cursor overlaping
the crosshair. This only happens if I use glx . In softx there is no
such problem.I tried using _windowed_mouse 1 and _windowed_mouse 0,
but that didn't help either.

Does anybody knows how to get rid of that annoying 'X' cursor ontop of
quake ?

There is one more problem, I cannot set the resolution of quake from
the video menu, it will stop responding. I have to manually edit the
config file to make any changes to the video mode.

My specs:
Pentium 4 2.66 Ghz
512 MB Ram
NVIDIA Geforce2 MX/64 MB
Redhat 9.0
Kernel 2.4.21
NVIDIA Driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496
XFree86 Version 4.3.0
quake2 3.20 for Linux

Please help !!!!

with regards,

Vicky
