Quake sound on master levels CD?

In the "idstuff" program on the master level CD, whenever you click the
mouse, you get a neat "boom" sound. I was just wondering why they bothered
to make a new sound, instead of just using the ever-popular pistol or
shotgun sound. However, I found that the name of the ound file on the CD
is, (get this) "hamwal1.wav". Now would I be jumping to conclutions to say
that that sound is the sound you'll get upon hitting a wall with the
hammer weapon?

Okay, I know it's pathetic, but it's the closest anyone will get to a
quake beta.

Interesting, we have an actual piece of QUAKE!!!
Well? Now all we need is all the rest of the sounds, the graphics
the game engine, the drivers, setup utility, modem utility, ipx
utility, and the rest. Then we have QUAKE BETA!
Well, keep searching that CD. Who knows, maybe it's on there somewhere.
Look for medium sized files. Ones with later dates.
