Dudes, i have a netcom account that i access from my home when my ISDN line is down (which is most of the time). I don't read a.g.q at work because, well, that's when i'm working! And yes, i have been reading all your messages. Ok John....have we been taking just a little bit to much of mommy's
pills...*laugh*...I know your sick of Quake questions, but here's one more
just to brighten your day. You guys have said that you would release some
of the Quake code with the game, and I'm sure you guys still plan to do
that since you guys never lie *grin*...IS there a limit on what we can do
with the code...I mean can we let are imaginations go flying, or are they
going to be caged in with a cyberdemon...

Hi John! >And yes, i have been reading all your messages. Muahahahahaha! :) I know, we're all unworthy. But may I beg you for another attempt of a lame-ass update of the finger-file? Or maybe you could even post something here - if your time and mood permits.. ;-) Yours, Philipp

Signing the message with PGP (use the new color tin w/ built in pgp support!) is one sure way of knowing who wrote the message. One thing to keep in mind about PGP though - it's a good idea to include the To: E-mail address within the signed text, this way you can be sure of who it was intended for. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.2 iQEVAwUBMOq4wwO8sT3NuDlpAQHKuQf+Jztjm/fcFFSEVf//do+tkekOWHoHb9IU +1LpxTaoLx75MTHiIoleaWdf3Q0ON0emMQ2QSCu/0bPeAGhh7Pyh6N63zyUjqxYC dGRjg4l4TVPlp70QbwXOmxgHosph5hp07h2STh+ijLiYN39+CTKNRfw/VpAZT9Rv NssSwV3s5P5dlGEvrZaSyLPWofzsyZu20R5An7NrJ0gJa/Al7p6vgWOHCJOYncXJ /XoaF/6tk7G2QlxHPJm1tqjMFeXs5vNcqB4OQFSxRsroPN5FqX4OySz1sm87QCgU z9Rywj7gxI4hZZo0+25uq6cLvsa63PxUJBgXSIMBT2tP/UUbJAvZrg== =71al -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

ISDN? Damn fast+quality fiber optics!
Will quake support ISDN connections?

ISDN is carried on copper. (to houses anyway)
ISDN is a phone line, only faster (oversimplification)
Most software doesn't care about the physical layer
in a network, just what kind of network.
The network software/harware worries about the physical layer.

If John Romero is using a netcom account, why is he hiding it with the "idsoftware" in the address? He'd have one address that says "idsoftware", the one based at idsoftware. The one based at netcom would be have "netcom.com".

Nah, I'd have it.. I wrote a perl script that checks every five
minutes for updates to idsoftware's .plans and ftp.idsoftware.com.. I'd
have it five minutes after it comes out. :)
But then it'd prolly be:
Me: It really _is_ there, I have it!!
AGQ: Shut up, you stupid lamer! I REPEAT: QUAKE IS _NOT_ OUT YET!!
me: It is too!
Khorne: Can I shit on it?
Keegan: Man, Quake for DOS/linux/win95/SGI/Sun SUCKS!! Quake for Mac is
gonna be out in 8 months and it's gonna r00l! It's gonna have like all
these pixels and like sixty-four-million more colors! Not as good as
marathon 3, though. That's gonna be mip-3d-alized with direct-blit-draw
6d that is going to be the standard file transfer protocol for AOL ...
And with my new $4500 PPC, I expect to get at least 2 frames per second!
Now THAT's performance! :)
(my apologies.. NOT)
