Sean Keegan? You again!
I once had a friend in high school that kept arguing with me that
light was not affected by gravitational pull. No matter what I did,
what I showed him, he didn't beleive me, and kept arguing that light
wasn't affected by gravity. I shoved him the results of an english
experiment that was done, and he still didn't beleive. What a moron
I must admit. It's as if his vision was covered, blurred by an unseen
force.
In a way, I see you the same way. There are many proofs that Macs
suck, but you still argue that Mac are good.
For the last fucking time, do your homework, do your math, and
come to the conclusion:
 MACHINTOSH SUCKS

These are your own words:
> KE>clones, thank you very much. By the way, The mac has 10% of the personal
> KE>computer market, and about 25% or so of the software market. Get it right

10% of computer market and 25% of software market.
In 2nd grade, math, I remenber they thought us about fractions
There I learned that 75% is greater than 25% which means IBM owns
more of software than Apple.
( Besides, most of that 25% is dual platform software, made to run
on both MAC and IBM )
And also learned 90% is greater than 10% which means IBM owns
more of computer market than Apple.

Another point, there are 486 emulators, soft windows to run IBM
software on MACs but absolutely nothing to run MAC software on
IBM. If you still don't get it, that means no one wants the shitty
25% software industry that MAC has.

My final point: MAC SUCKS.
My final advice: DO THE MATH, SMELL THE ROSES

Are you that stupid? There are more companies than just IBM! The reason that the PC has 75% is because of C-L-O-N-E-S. IBM does no=
t make ALL PC hardware. Do you know anything about business?

Mac and PC! Not just IBM!

No! Are you completely in the dark about this? PC's are NOT IBM's.
Hundreds of companies own PC clones. IBM does not own those companies.

That's because PC users are so fucking bigoted that they wouldn't buy it.
The smart people just buy new Macintoshes.

My final advise, find out why IBM (The company you're so fond of) made a merger with Apple, and are going to put the MacOS on the ne=
w IBM's.

I played DooM on one of the high end Mac's once (like a power mac 6000
or something) It was $3,000. Basically with a 1 button
mouse(HAHAHAHAHA) and chopiness from hell a Mac may be the most user
friendly but man they suck for speed. People refuse to play Mac users
with Dos emulators on our board because we know the game will run
SSSSLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWWWW. I could give a rats ass if Mac runs quicken
faster than an IBM clone. How does it run C&C?? oh it doesnt hehehe. Ok
well how about DooM?? real shitty. And personally I wouldn't buy that
crap that IBM promotes anyways(Aptiva) that COMPUTER SUCKS. But IBM
clones rule I'll take a Dell p100 over anything Mac can give me anyday.

Apparently most of the industry doesn't know that either. This
"merger" would be big news by now, wouldn't it?

The fact of the matter is this "agreement" is old news, and only means
that IBM will offer the MacOS as an _option_, not standard shipping
OS, on their PowerPC machines- which have just been flyin' out the
door. (note: SARCASM)

Why the fuck would anyone want to ruin their IBM (and clones) with a
Mac OS??? That's god damn stupid!!! Most probably gonna be
an option as Glue said. (For lamers only option)
They can't torture us (the computer professionals) with the Mac OS.

Is Windows 95 simular to Mac OS? NO! Windows 95 has an advanced button
which allows you to change the most advanced settings. Therefore
keeping the action up to maximum.

My friend had a hard drive problem on his Mac. He knew a lot about
computers. He studies computer science. He could have fixed his
Mac by himself, but the Mac OS is so shitty that it doesn't allow
you to go into advanced settings and options. (No matter what you
do with a Mac OS, you will allways be in the Novice level). The
computer litterrally didn't allow him to fix it. That shows how
shitty the Mac OS is.

This person most fortunately has an IBM (or clones). That's why he is
so knowledgeble in computers.

My question: Why the fuck does a Mac have only one shitty button???
IBM (and clones) have up to 3 (THREE) button mice. Minimum 2 buttons.

Final word:
Top 10 Uses for a Mac:
   1. Make fun of them
   2. Throw them out the window.
   3. Play pong.
   4. Use the amount of time it takes to load Doom as a timer
for hard boiled eggs. ( 1 minute )
   5. Reduce stress by laughing at it.
   6. Laught at it some more.
   7. See if it fits in the garbage.
   8. Watch your garbage man yell at you for putting shit in the
     garbage.
   9. Ruin your eyes on it's 14", $1000, round edged monitor.
   10. See if lands on it's legs... Over and over again.

Well your obviously entitled to your opinion, but you're spreading some
misinformation here. When properly configured, Doom runs quite nicely on
PowerMacs. If used with excessive System extensions, or other software
which conflicts with Doom, then performance will suffer. I've seen
_dramatic_ differences with merely turning off one extension. The
manufacturer does recommend what you should use with Doom, so it's not
like it's a mystery or anything. At least not for anyone who RTFM. . .

By the way, the 6000 series PowerMacs are the extreme low end of the PPC
Macs. Always have been. But even on them, Doom will run very smoothly at
low and medium resolutions, which by the way is the same as high
resolution on DOS Doom. When set to high resolution, a 6000 series
PowerMac will probably not run too smoothly, but then the resolution will
be twice as high as the best available for DOS Doom (which means 4x as
much video data).

But none of this says anything about Quake or Marathon 2. Why not wait to
see how Quake performs before flaming about it? Marathon 2, on the other
hand, is available now. On my low end PowerMac, with all options turned
on (640 x 480, 16 bit color, 4 channel stereo, ambient sounds, etc), I get
15 to 20 fps. When I drop down to 8 bit color, then I usually get 20 to
30 fps. Remember, 640 x 480 with 16 bit color means moving 8 times as
much video data as in DOS Doom. And it runs pretty well. . .

What are you? An idiotic ass or somethin'?
By IBM, I mean IBM and IBM Clones. Everybody knows that IBM (the
company) is almost as dead as Apple. But the IBM clone computers
are what I meant by IBM. It's just so much easyer to write that
three letter word IBM instead of IBM compatibles. Get it?

Another point... Since Apple monopolizes the Mac computer technology,
they can sell it at any price they want. They can sell you shit for
$2000 and no one will be able to say shit about it. But with IBM,
they keep reducing the price to match the others. Again if you don't
understand I meant IBM compatibles by my above referance to IBM,
you may go f^ck your own dead self up the shitty ass hole.

Hmmmmm. . . No I don't think that Quake will over take Doom as far as popularity.

What the hell you talking about. Quake not over taking doom as fas as
popularity??? That's totally bull!!! Quake will make doom look like a
MAC compared to an IBM. We gonna be asking ourselves, "how the hell
was I playing such a shitty game". And quake will sell like bread and
butter. Man, as soon as it comes out, I go get one. The supplies are
not going to last too long. Doom is made by id. Quake is also made by
id software. id software is a trustable company. They wouldn't make
something worse than doom. In terms of graphics AND gameplay.
Quake will be superior to all other 3d games out there.

Well, now I am on the right subject I suppose. :)

Hardly. It's much easier to just turn the extensions off via Extensions
Manager (or something similar). Doom seems to be more prone to these
performance hits than most other software (Marathon, for example, doesn't
suffer from this much at all). I've had much worse problems with games on
PC's, where we couldn't easily figure out what had to be done. Granted, I
haven't played any games under W95, but then most PC games are still for
DOS. . .

Doom seems to be pretty robust to me, I've had it run well on all kinds of
funny half-baked setups. I even accidentally ran it in a DOS box (on
someone elses machine) without realizing for a while :)

Anyway, although 'Extensions Manager' may seem easier to use than trusty old
Dos Edit, I've seen so many posts about which extension clashes with which.

At least with DOS you expect this. cha cha cha

How many DOS games run out of the Box? This is what bugs the hell out me.
I'd get a game and sit down with my son to play; after about 2 hours of
debugging the game might work...
I have to debug machines all DAY, when I get home I just want it to work.

In all honesty, the best and most reliable gaming machines will be dedicated
units, like the Play station. Hack on the PC, chill out on a game with the
Ultra64.

By the way with the release of Copeland Extension problems will all but
cease to exist. Any crashes that do occur we be self contained.

Ooh...intelligence incarnate.

For your information, I'm running Ultimate Doom on my PMac 5200, and the
frame rates are just fine. Better, in fact, than my roommate's Pentium.
And I get high-res.

Oh, and by the way, my 75Mhz 603 Mac, with 4x ROM drive, 1 gig hard drive,
14.4 modem, A/V capture card, 8 megs of RAM, and lots of software, cost me
just under $2200. Five months ago. The price has dropped since then.
