I found this on the internet. I thought it was very
humerous. Has some good ideas and some interesting
thoughts on what QUAKE will be.
ENJOY!!!

This statement about QUAKE: The Fight for Justice was first
published in 1990...
=========================================
COMING SOON FROM ID SOFTWARE
As our follow-up to the Commander Keen trilogy, Id Software is working on
"The Fight for Justice": a completely new approach to fantasy gaming. You
start not as a weakling with no food--you start as Quake, the strongest,
most dangerous person on the continent. You start off with a Hammer of
Thunderbolts, a Ring of Regeneration, and a trans-dimensional artifact.
Here the fun begins. You fight for Justice, a secret organization devoted to
vanquishing evil from the land! This is role-playing excitement.
And you don't chunk around the screen. "The Fight for Justice" contains
fully animated scrolling backgrounds. All the people you meet have their own
lives, personalities, and objectives. A 256-color VGA version
will be available (smooth scrolling 256-color screens--fancy that)!
And the depth of play will be intense. No more "whack whack here's some
gold." There will be interesting puzzles and decisions won't be "yes/no"
but complex correlations of people and events.
"The Fight for Justice" will be the finest PC game yet.

There's a much easier way of doing that. Just grab the floating platform --
its that mushroom that doesn't look quite like the others (flatter and gray
instead of red and white), press down and it'll pop up and give you flight
until you run out of mana points. Its really cool the way it tilts when you
turn, kind of a mini-flight simulator. Watch out for that giant bird-dragon
(inside the cave in the clouds). ;)

I need help on Quake! I rode the river snake to the plasma dome.
Then I pick up the radiating cube and inserted it in the axe-bot. The
'bot chopped down all the poisonous mushrooms, so I can get into the gas
chamber. There is my problem. Every time I try to pick up the fusion
grenades so I can destroy the Blob-bird generator, the doors close, then
all the walls grow spikes, and theyy crush me while gas suffocates me
from the vents. This has been driving me crazy! I've tried using that
anti-gravity ray to float the grenades out, but it doesn't extend far
enough, and I still have to be in the chamber to grab it. I even tried
to shoot it with the force-hammer at low power to knock it out so I good
go to the planes of acid rain on the other side to get it. I even found
some hidden acid armor. Anyway, please help! Thanx in advance.
You're being too subtle. See, it only takes two plasma grenades to
destroy the blob-bird generator. Use the third of the three you pick up
to blast the door open after it closes. (Don't worry, it took me a
couple times too.) Or... if you've already gone through the eternal
labrynth, use the winged boots from the minotaurs cave (after, of course,
you cap the minotaur and sacrifice his head in his firepit for the
Force-Axe) you can usually zip in and out with ease.

Something I've heard but can't confirm is that if you learn the
Transmutate power at a high enough level, you can cast a "Mist Form"
spell and move through the gas holes to the second secret level.
However, I haven't found any sages with Transmutate high enough, have you?
BTW, how did you get the antigravity ray before destroying the generator,
I didn't find it till later.
Best of luck...can't wait till you find the Netherbeast lair. He he he
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
John, I *WOULD* tell you , but you must *BUY* the game first (250,000
years or $5 fine per disk).. dont you wish you were eleet and were playing
the Quake II September Beta (the 640x480 3-d full texture mapping)
is phoenominal. But on to your question: go to the left a bit and go
through the doors, that is all there is to it. On level 18 did you not
find the rotating amber shoe-horn (behind the hidden Yellow portal).
If you use that later in the level (i cant believe you don't know)
in the humming vortex room, that should answer your problem. But you
pirates need to stop this, cuz i'm gonna tell iD and your postmaster!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanx, that worked great. I already got the Mist Form spell. I
found my clone brother and after I threatened him with the sonic
boomerang, he transferred his power to me. I tried using the Mist Form
spell in the chamber, and after using the plasma grenade to stop the
walls, I searched around. I found the secret level, too! It's awesome.
There are a bunch of Apogee staff people hanging from their thumbs. You
get to blow them into little pieces, and if you collect their heads and
pile them together, then use the infra-torch on them, they melt into a
suit of varia-armor. I got the antigravity ray from a secret area. Way
back on level 63, you go to that place where Hitler is sacrificing the
Spider Demon. Remember that? IF you shoot the chain the Demon is
hanging from, he'll fall into the lava. Hitler will hand you the
anti-gravity ray. It's usefull a lot earlier in the game.
By the way, I've found another awesome secret. Don't sacrifice the
Minotaur's head in the firepit yet. Wait until you find the mega-growth
hormone pills. Pull his brain out, and fill it with them. When you put
this in the firepit, the flames turn green. If you cast in the water
from the Eternal Plain of Acid Rain, the flames form into a giant
spectre, which kills all the enemies on that level for you. You just get
to walk around past their smoking bodies. It's awesome, you should try
it. I'm not stuck again yet, but I may post again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You're supposed to get one of the enemies to follow you in; when a
second one enters, this confuses the machine that the end door opens
again, allowing one to exit; the second one will be trapped and it will die.

: >However, I haven't found any sages with Transmutate high enough, have you?
No, the problem is that any transmute cubes that high have to be grabbed
in the first 30 seconds of the game; the code forces them to implode due
to their velocity if you don't get them. So you have to run for them
first, before doing anything else. It's hard, after 10 or 12 tries I
figured out how to move fast enough, using ALT-CTRL-SHIFT RIGHT-SHIFT
LEFT-INSERT, this was the key to making it in time.
: >BTW, how did you get the antigravity ray before destroying the generator,
: >I didn't find it till later.
It's possible to have one of the monsters trigger a hidden door that
allows you to get to it, but you have to kill the monster within 2
seconds because if he goes a little further he closes the access panel
and you can't get it until much later, e.g. as you said after destroying
the generator.
In short you have to lead him on part way, then force him to backtrack
after you.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That would work, except I've gotten it all screwed up. I only have
saved games after I've killed all the baddies except the ascidic ballooners.
If I let one of them get squished, they pop. That would be all right,
because their explosive radius is usually only a few feet, but the gas
gives it smart bomb qualities. I can't seem to hide anywhere without
getting splashed by that putrid stuff! Sorry, but I need help again!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Freeyow, you guys! I can't believe you're all still on the origional
release levels! Join Silver Relms (SR.bos.usa on quakenet, registered
quake relm 23) the Boston area quakefest. 10 wizards. more then 50 all
new monsters. Town, forest, mountain and underground domains. Hundreds
of players, up to 50 on line at a time.
Note to the bloodthirsty: Within the limits of the town you WILL be
attacked by guards if you are observed killing other players. This is
for the protection of newbies and people who prefer questing to
slaughter. If yo want intra-player animosity I recommend the outlaw camp
east of the castle. There you will find many on-line folks who would
gladly skin you alive and eat yer heart.
Also note: People using InterQuake to transfer characters may loose
levels and items. This is due to an affort to keep extremely high level
characters built in cheat-domains from ruining the playing experience for
folks who have actually WORKED to build their characters.

Reading all of the fake posts about people claiming to be playing Quake has
really gotten my blood flowing...so to speak :)...thinking about what the
future could bring in the world multiplayer games. So this is my attempt to
get a conversations going about the ideas that all of you other game players
may have...sort of like all those past threads about weapon ideas and new
monster ideas, etc. I am also hoping that maybe if Id happens to read this
thread they could use some of these ideas. Well, enough crap...here are some
of my ideas for a 3D multiplayer game environment:
1. RPG-like player makeup. Things like strength and constitution would work,
but since the action is realtime things like dexterity/reaction time,
intelligence, wisdom..would only be determined by the actual dexterity,
intelligence, etc. of the actual player. If the game has magic, then
there could also be something like mana points. This would also allow
players to grow, unstead of being static like our doom marine, as well as
giving an incentive to stay alive (ie. not commit suicide when things get
sticky). This would also mean that the saved character format had better
be damn secure, lest we have people hacking their characters.
2. Self-contained and linked servers (worlds). By that I mean that someone
could set up a server that contains all of the map data needed to define
its own "world". Players could then connect to these worlds and play
along with whoever else is connected at that time. Increasingly larger
worlds could then link up with each other and players could cross between
them. If the server's world has new textures that the client (player)
doesn't have in his WAD (or whatever the new format is), he would be
prompted to download these. The same would be true for any modifications.
3. A BUILT IN EDITOR! This is a REALLY big wish of mine. No bugs or
inconsistencies like third party editors. Plus, if it is built right into
the game this could mean on-the-fly editing. You could be walking through
your world, decide you want a staircase in front of you, pull down an
editing menu..*click*..and your staircase appears. Of course the big wish
is for every aspect of the game to be editable. If the computer
controlled enemies (monsters) have RPG-like stats like the players, they
could then be hacked up too...which leads me to my next wish...
4. Programmable enemies! By this I mean a kind of script language should be
invented that would allow you to create monsters etc. limited only to your
imagination...and, well, your programming ability :). If the language is
well structured enough you could create unique creatures with unique
abilities. The graphics would have to be done outside the script, of
course, but I am talking about the behavior.
5. Both 3 and 4 for weapons as well.
6. Well...I think I have exausted my imagination for now...I'm sure I'll
come up with more :). Oh yeah that'll be 6 - More! More items, more
powers, more weapons, more enemies, definately more players in
deathmatch. Oh god can you imagine entire armies going to battle?!
(By the way I think I have completely left the realm of even pentiums)
Ok I think I'm done slobbering now :)....
Lets hear your ideas, if I haven't used 'em all up...
