Editorial Diatribe

It's been a very busy month and getting busier all the time. But
through all the madness, I managed to put together one more issue of
the newsletter. So...what will you find in this month's issue?

I'm sure the headlines caught your interest and the newsletter is
indeed coming to an end....but not in quite the way you may think. Check
my article "The Newsletter Comes to an End....sorta." That should clear
up the mystery.....sorta.

We also have a major announcement in this issue. A new software
company, BANJO Software, (appropriately located in Lousiana) is currently
at work on their first game "HACX". This promises to be another great
3D Action shoot 'em up and Banjo has passed along a (nearly) exclusive
press release for the Newsletter readers. Check it out in "The Coming of
HACX!"

Robin Davis has sent us another list of his favorite Heretic wads
along with a little diatribe of his own. I ate the whole cake, Robin...
sorry. And if you're interested in what presents I got - it was a
Pentium Motherboard and a P120 chip. Eat your heart out. <grin>

JAB sent in a quick article discussing his views on Deathmatching.
I agree, Jab, there just doesn't seem to be many places for us Co-op
players....ho, hum.

And, of course, we have are usual assortment of brik brak. So, kick
off your shoes, relax, lean back and...aahh...don't lean back to far!!
Oooo, that's gotta hurt!

1. News, Notes and Noises From the Masses

What Did He Say?

RicRob picked this interesting tidbit up from the newsgroups. I
think you'll get a kick out of this

From: Joe Veldhuis <joe...@iserv.net>
Newsgroups: rec.games.computer.doom.playing
Subject: The DOOM Event of the week!
Date: Monday, April 28, 1997 5:42 PM

This is it! The answer to the eternal question, "What does the monster at
the end of DOOM ][][ say?"
You will find out at.

New Deathmatch Wad

Hey Rich,

If it's not to late, can you do a plug for me on my new friends DM set?
His name is Curtis, and his Amber Extreme DM set is quite nice if I do say
so meself. I'll be adding Amber to my All Time Favourite Wad page. He
asked if we could mention his wad, and I didn't see a problem with it.
He's also on Adel's +GOTHIC+ crew. =D I've sent you a copy of Amber to
look over yourself.

Nosty Notes: Consider it mentioned. This wad can be picked up at
RicRob's web site at:

http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Arcade/6893/
-------------------

More Noise

Due to the total and complete non-response to the Reader's Awards
mentioned in last month's issue, we're going to kill that idea.
BANG!...fresh meat.

PC Gamers Magazine rated the top 50 computer games ever in there last
issue. In the list, they rated Duke Nukem as #16, Quake as #15 and good
old Doom at #2! Who was number 1? Tie Fighter but then....who cares?

I played Quake through a server last week for the first time. Got
wasted repeatedly but it was interesting....got my first frag, too.
Wasn't even trying...just wandering along when some guy came around the
corner right in front of me. I was so startled that I blew his head off.
I'm sure he was equally surprised. I have a question, though. I'm more
of a co-op player instead of a deathmatch player. Isn't there any
servers out there that cater to co-op? I couldn't find any.
Capture the Flag looks interesting, though....being as I'm a big
Paintball player. I'll have to look into that.

Speaking of killing each other, there was also a mention in the last
issue of starting a Deathmatch Directory. I did get two people sign up
but received very little interest beyond that. So, I'm not going to try
and develop a directory. When I get my web site up to par, I may include
something along those lines for the various 3D Games out there. However,
you'll notice in the Virtual World Tour section, I've included a few
web sites devoted to the antics of deathmatching.

2. The Newsletter Comes to an End.....sorta
   by Nostromo

The 3D Gaming Newsletter has run for 7 wonderful issues and the
feedback and support has been tremendous. However, due to having an
overwhelming schedule that's quickly getting out of hand, I will no
longer be publishing a monthly edition of the newsletter. This saddens
me greatly as it's a labor of love and it's so greatly appreciated by
those that subscribe. But...one sometimes has to give up something they
love for the sake of other things that are also of great importance.

Does this mean that the newsletter is finished? Not entirely. Now
that I have you thouroughly confused, let me explain. The newsletter
has gathered quite a subscription list since its inception. I would now
like to name this list of people the 3D Gamer's Group and I will maintain
this list. I still want RicRob to send items of interest from Usenet, I
still want to receive articles from our columnists...Robin, Jab and
others, and I still would like the occasional updates and news on the 3D
Gaming projects that are going on out there. ...and I still want to pass
along this stuff to you. So, rather than getting a monthly formal
newsletter like you've gotten in the past, you'll get news sent to you as
it comes in to me.

This has some great advantages. One is, you won't have to wait till
the next issue to get the news....it'll be passed along as it's received.
Also, it'll provide a large distribution network for information that
others would like to share without it being regarded as a "spam" because
those in the 3D Gamer's Group want that information.

So, in that context, the 3D Gaming Newsletter will live on...just
not as a newsletter anymore. As always, the first 7 issues will be
available by request and news that is passed along will be stored and
archived by month. These, also, will be available by request.

I should have a web site sometime in the future and when I do, I
plan to have an area called the 3D Gamer's Group Headquarters. There
you'll find all the latest news and all the past news as well as some
other goodies....providing I have the time.

In closing, I would just like to impart a big "Thank You" to all
of those that have supported this effort. ...and if you ever want to
pass along any information on any 3D Gaming...projects, articles,
comments, suggestions, announcements, web sites addresses, etc...feel
free to send them in so everyone in the 3D Gamer's Group can stay
informed and entertained. Just send your stuff to:

3. The Coming of HACX! - Official press release

RicRob sent me a quick posting that he found featuring a new game
called HACX. I contacted the head of Banjo Software, the makers of HACX
and he was kind enough to send us this press release. Check it out
-----

This press release is hot off the press! I just put it together on
4/20/97. It has not been displayed in public as of yet. It was also sent
to, All About Games, but as of now has not been posted.

The following is exclusive information, not previously released to the
public:
-------------

We are in the final stages of preparing to market our project to
prospective publishers.

HACX uses the DooM engine, to deliver heart pounding speed!

This is our maiden project, HACX is not a TC, as most projects that use
the term TC, are really Partial Conversions.

Everything in the IWAD is being changed. Everything the player sees and
hears is being changed!

The AI's are being altered, to date there are already over 2500 changes
to the engine's actions and we are only approximately 1/3 complete.

Why are we using the DooM engine, you may be asking?

Why not use the engine, from the most popular game every made for the PC,
as a basis for our first project.

This game's specifications are the same as DooM's, if you have not
purchased a new computer recently, you can still enjoy some new thrills
and chills! If you have a powerhouse computer, you will not believe the
speed and details!

The specifications are:

IBM PC & Compatibles.
386/33 minimum.
MS-DOS 5.0 or higher.
Hard Disk, 20MB of free space.
4MB RAM min., 8MB recommended.
VGA graphics.
Supports joystick and mouse.
Supports Sound Blaster and AdLib or 100% compatible sound cards.

Although, the DooM Tech Package is the horsepower under the hood of this
monster, you would never know it, unless you were told. We have achieved,
a newness that makes the words "COOL" slip out of the mouths of even the
most die hard DooM fans!

Our goal was and is, to develop a game as Raven did with Heretic that has
superb graphics and retain the FIREPOWER that DooM had at it's heart!

We have accomplished that!

This project, began in March of 1995, and though it has taken time and
thousands of e-mail messages, we have gathered the most promising new
talents on the WEB today!

You can Meet the Members, via a link on our site. If you've done any DooM
or Quake editing, you will recognize many of the names! Kenneth Scott,
Thomas Moeller, Iikka Keranen, just to name a few! We have members in the
US, Canada, Brazil, Switzerland, Germany, Scotland, etc...

This game, once released, is completely compatible with all DooM
utilities and "add on's", could be posted to WEB sites within hours
of it's release.

We have tried to incorporate the strengths that made DooM so much fun!
This coupled with larger monsters and highly detailed levels (made
possible by today's stronger cpu's and an adjustment to the players
view perspective), have made game play fun.

We have, for the most part, made non-DM type levels. We'll leave that
fun, for the thousands of avid level designers.

In effect we have designed the game around the engines capabilities. The
game's storyline was hammered on for approximately six months, to achieve
a comprehensive plot based on what effects and looks are possible.

The story is designed for the more mature audience, which means, there is
a reason for the killing!

It has diverse areas of intricate details, that are apparent to players
of our age bracket. *(Sean, I see you've just turned 41, I turned 41 on
March 17, so, Power to the People! ;) )

For the younger action player, came the title of the game;

HACX: Twitch n' Kill

This game, is indeed a joy to play in multi player sessions, it feels
very smooth in comparison to today's more advanced engines. My personal
experience is, what matters most in multi play gaming is, heart pounding
speed and the blur of interacting with a intelligent opponent!

This coupled with completely new looks and actions, makes this a must
have for all First Person Shooter fans!

Picture this;

Your in a modern design lab, suddenly from behind a corner comes several
Thugs, you open fire, the place is blazing with gun fire, the entire
office area is being destroyed!

Chairs and lamps are being blasted to pieces, as you maneuver to take
out the bad guys! The sounds of busting glass and the sharp pain you
feel from the flying shards of glass from the nearby windows, force you
to reposition.

As the fire fight continues, more Thugs and now Androids close in on your
position. Computer monitors, are blasted to bits. You exhaust your ammo
and revert to your martial arts talents and kick two of the Thugs in the
face, splattering parts of them all over the place.

In your haste you spin to suppress the remaining Android but instead kick
a monitor out the second floor office window! You reposition and drop the
metal alloy terror to a shorting pile of scrap metal.

As the sounds, of the terrific scene subside, your eyes scan the once
beautiful office as it lay totally destroyed!

This is one room, in level 1!

A tentative release date is, Winter '97.
----------

End of Hype,

we now return you to your regular TV programming...

Thanks,
John

Nosty Notes: Since corresponding with John on this new game, I've been
included amoung the group of level designers....as well as Adelusion, I
believe. I've had a chance to look at some of the stuff....although not
much of a chance with getting this newsletter out...and I've found it to
be quite exciting. I know I'm going to have an incredible amount of fun
working on this project and I know you're going to have a lot of fun
playing it. We'll keep you posted.

4. HERETIC - Yet more Solo Play\Solo Deathmatch Roasters!!
            ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
By Robin "Roaster" Davis!! (STILL aged 44 - Good Grief!! - AND a Limey???
- OH NO!!!).

I must admit I`m really beginning to enjoy doing these articles!! It`s
great fun - it`s really allowed me, or forced me!!, to go back through
my Games Directories, & focus on levels that have alternatively baffled,
perplexed, & excited me - or just plain had me beat on more than one
occasion in the past!! Also writing about them also gives you the chance
to "think out loud" as it were & has also enabled me to solve some levels
which I previously thought were "unplayable" - they`re not!! It`s just a
question of sitting down & working your way through them, trying one
approach after another till you find one that applies!! Great Stuff!!
It just makes you realise how staggering many of these levels actually
are - and just how much thought & effort has gone into concocting them
& then making them come alive - in 3D as well!! Once again, there`s no
doubt now, in my mind, that Games Levels have, over the last few years,
definately, become much more imaginative - they, have, as a result,
often become tougher & more complex, that`s a natural byproduct, & often
require a lot more thought & time to play\solve!! This is fine by me!!
Also with a lot of the Total (or even Partial!!) Conversions now
available, it just makes you realise what can be done with stretching the
Doom Engine, as it were!! I`ve often thought of the majority of Great
Games Levels as being sort of 3D Crossword Puzzles, simply because of
the amount of thought & energy required to solve them (and construct
them in the first place of course!!) - once again, this is really good
for you, I think - Mind Alive in fact!!! This series of articles are my
way of saying "Thank You" to the vast amount of people who get fired up
enough to sit down & work out these little gems for our delight &
excitement - in return for no reward either!! Truly remarkable!! Anyway,
I`d better climb down off my soapbox, I think, & get on with the subject
in hand!! Here goes....

1. 7THSIGN2.zip - by Rob Jones.
Must admit when I initially downloaded this a year or 2 ago, I
thought it was a bit gimmicky (& tough!!) - & have only just recently
got round to playing it all the way through - I`m now forced to eat some
humble pie (very tasty!!) & admit it`s actually REALLY good. Features
loads of sound patches from Doom & Hexen - once again, tough & complex
level - it definately grows on you!!!

2. CASAH.zip - by Jose Luis Gallardo.
A new zip & Author to me (Check "nice.zip" mentioned below as well!!) -
Excellent & large Level this - enjoyed this so much when I downloaded it,
played it about 3 times on the trot!! Basically Solo Deathmatch - i.e.
Kill or be Killed - Keep moving & Survive!!

3. CWOLFHTC.zip - by Craig Gjeredingen.
Another "old" favourite - Largish level which starts off with a Maulotaur
in the main room, which of course, you HAVE to enter to get armed up &
move onto exploring other sections of the level!! Keep yer head down!

4. CRAZY.zip - by Crazy One.
A Level I got from one of those Shareware Catalogs (i.e. I paid for
it!!). Not quite as "crazy" as the Author makes out - but certainly enough
twists & turns to keep you occupied for quite a while - Puzzle orientated;
a few secret passages to locate & remember!!! There`s one area (Room with
the switches!!) you can only gain entry to, by cheating in Solo Play (it`s
designed as a Co-Op Level!!), which was driving me mad trying to find out
how you could get in - then I re-read the accompanying text file & the
penny dropped!!

5. CRYPT.zip - by Mike Le Pard.
A "below-ground" level - deep down into the bowels of the earth!! Quite a
lengthy maze section via the underground river with some quite strong
currents to battle against - have yet to compeletely solve.

6. COLD10.zip - by Richard Carlsson.
Another of Richard`s levels!! COLD is an abbreviation of Creatures of
Light & Darkness, quite apt as 90% of the action is actually underground.
Very large & complex level with some very sneaky "invisible" doors!!!

7. DARKDAY.zip - (Replacement for Episode 1 of Heretic) - by Jeremy
Wagner. This is the forerunner of Jeremy`s "Incubus" & is once again a
whole Episode replacement of Heretic. Once again very imaginative, complex
& tough levels, tho` maybe not quite as developed as the latter above -
for instance there aren`t so many Red Herring or "no going back" sections
as Incubus (i.e. if you screw up - tough!!). If you found Incubus pretty
tough (which it is!!) start with this one first & then move on up!! I must
admit, I wasn`t too crazy about the midi file soundtrack at first - in
fact it put me off!! I`ve adjusted to it now & think it fits realy well!!
We definately need some more Sound wads for Heretic, much as I like the
music in Heretic, you do sometimes get a bit fed up with certain tunes!!

8. DROME.zip - by Jeffrey Steelman
One of the earliest Heretic levels I downloaded - quite a nasty one, this
in places - watch out for the numerous teleporters - you`re not always
going somewhere nice!!

9. DUNGEON.zip - by Kevin Haley
Puzzle orientated wad involving you battling your way out of a fairly
labyrynthine maze of corridors & rooms out to the outer section of the
Castle & then ultimate freedom - you hope!!! The first few times I
played this it took me ages to find my way through the dungeons (I`m
not always very good with mazes!!), & then even longer to find my way
out of the Castle itself - that`s a reflection on me, rather than the
author!!! `Course, now that I`ve survived the extended, in-yer-face
version of Heretic, I can take anything on, can`t I?? Can`t I??!!
Check out Hairy below!!!

10. FLENZER2.zip - by Steve Stauber
This has also been converted to Hexen (& works equally as well!!) - All
the action takes place in & around Flenzer`s Castle, so there`s loads
of secret passageways, ducts & lifts to explore - maybe a little
confusing at first, so take your time with it - it`s definately worth
it!! Once again, quite tough & action packed, but once you`ve found your
way around....!!! I`ve often found that with the more ambitious\complex
levels, that after exploring initially & getting frustrated\lost trying
to work your way through them - if you leave it for a few days (weeks
even sometimes!!), they very often begin to make sense!! Maybe it`s just
me!!

11. GRCIH1I.zip - by Greg Gerber
It`s true this is a fairly small & easy Level (playable on hardest skill
as well!!), but I just happen to really like it, that`s all - & that`s
enough for me - so there!! Apparently, it`s a Hereticised version of the
GRCI Building in Vienna, Virginia (whatever that is!!) - don`t fancy
hanging out with the Monsters in the area tho`!!

12. GURUDOME.zip - by Pavel Hodek
Another early wad by a Czech author - one of the initial "tough" ones in
that you are under attack all the way through the level - it starts as it
means to go on!!

13. HAIRY.zip - by Pat Smith
An absolute Bastard of a level!!! It`s certainly great, but so far I`ve
found it almost impossible to play (apart from the legendary God-Mode!!).
There would appear to be a definate shortage of both weapons & health!!
I`ve only just recently bashed my way though it (as God of course!!), got
to the "end" & found I`d missed loads of Monsters & Secrets - I thought
I`d solved it!!! Absolutely massive & monstrous level (in every sense of
the word!!). Will probably take a while longer to solve\survive....!!

14. HELLPIT.zip - by Joseph Labrecque
Early "toughie" - large & complicated layout, leading to a frenzied
stand-off with D`Aspiral - another one where you don`t idle around
corridors too long!!

15. HERPIT.zip - by William Drummond
Another new level & Author - looks really good so far (although, maybe a
little too much health on display?) - still exploring...!!!

16. HELLSHAL.zip - by Joe King
Small but brilliantly & imaginatively designed level with some very neat
puzzles involving timing - use your eyes & ears!!

17. HORROR.zip - by Mike Adams
It`s true there`s not a lot of Monsters in this wad but check out the
decor (I want some of those Paintings!!) & Sound Effects - the level is
quite a lot larger than I initially thought - many secret corridors to
explore!!

18. HLAVAFLW.zip - by Greg Hagedon

19. LAVA_PIT.zip - by Kevin Haley

20. LAVALORD.zip - by Kenneth S.Forte
This strictly speaking, shouldn`t be here as it`s designed almost totally
for Co-Op play - BUT is so well done & laid out that I thought I just
had to mention it - the opening level is unbelievable in particular (& I
can actually play most of this unaided - the rest of this I`m in God
mode to be honest - Try it & see!!). I use this mainly for "training", as
it were - I don`t think there`s any way that you could play this Solo -
at least I haven`t, anyway!!! Excellent all the same!!

21. MALICE.zip - by Ryan Hare
Excellent whole Episode 1 replacement.

22. NICE.zip - by Jose Luis Gallardo
Massive Solo Deathmatch level with midi file of Metallica`s "Creeping
Death" - another Modern Classic!! - Tough, complex but once again,
playable - played this loads of times - only had it about 3 weeks as
well!!!

23. OCTAVIA.zip - by Van Sederburg
Very large, puzzle orientated level this - as the author states, use
your head as well as the Crossbow!!

24. OMEGA_H.zip - by David Davidson
This is David`s conversion of his own Omega wad for Doom2 - another
great wad (for some reason this is in the Deathmatch section on ftp
Sites - probably why it took me so long to locate it after reading about
it on a Website a year or so ago!!!). Great level, both as Heretic &
Doom2. Very well thought out, designed & excecuted level.

25. REVENGE2.zip - by Richard Carlson

26. SEVEN.zip - by Charlie Reis
Another new Level I`ve only recently got - Excellent, Large, & fast-moving
- very well designed as well - quite a few shadowy areas so conserve
those torches - you`ll need `em!! This one`ll certainly keep you on your
toes - DON`T stand still, whatever you do!!

27. SUBRIVER.zip - by Keith Phipps
ABSOLUTE CLASSIC!!! Download & play it!!! Enormous Level where you are
fighting for your life ALL the way through!! "A river running through an
underground city. Fight your way through the Docks, the Throne Room, the
flooded Temple, a Cathedral, the Crypts and much more in this massive
level". Sums it up really - Great wad, played this tons o` times!!

28. TRIAL.zip - by Merlin of Pleth
Another tough bastard!! Certainly great though - massive, tough & complex
- gradually beginning to solve it - give me a few more weeks tho`!!!

Some more DOOM\DOOM 2 to HERETIC Conversions by Yours Truly!!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
1. CHLORINE.zip - Doom2 wad by Doug Ryerson

2. DMKEEP.zip - Doom wad by James Wilson

3. EMBASSY.zip - Doom2 wad by Colin Dickens

4. HICLIMB.zip - Doom wad by Patrick McBride

5. MANSION.zip - Doom2 wad by Kevin L.Roels

6. RAVEN.zip - Doom2 wad (11 Levels) by Tim Willets & Theresa Chasar

7. DM2TIGER.zip - Doom2 wad by Jim Young
This wad is UNBELIEVABLE - STONE COLD CLASSIC!!! Massive & Monstrous -
NON-STOP ACTION all the way - no messin` here boy!! - Get stuck straight
into the meat!!!

8. BRUISED.zip - Doom2 wad by Patrick Smith
Another Classic!! Only problem with the Heretic conversion is it breaks
the Save-Game Buffer - anybody know of a work around?? (It`s imperative
you save!!!). You want yer ass roasted?? - Get these muthas!!!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Many thanks to the number of people who took the time & trouble to email
me about the previous articles - particularly, to Robert Eckhart, who
emailed me concerning Wizard 4; at last I`ve managed to tame the Great
Beast - only on Skill 3 so far, it`s true!! - a simple case of "easy
when you know how"!! Thanks also to Jeff Weisend (Gulag.wad) - I`ve now
played a lot more of this MASSIVE series of Levels - it`s rapidly turning
into a staggering experience - this is unbelievable, if you`re having
problems, all I can suggest is, persevere with it - it`s definately worth
it!! These levels are ENORMOUS!! The first time I played "Circus Maximus",
I was playing it for over 2 hours!!! Admittedly, I was trying to find my
way around! - ANOTHER Classic!! The wealth of detail & care contained
in these levels is astounding!! (You BETCHA I love Heretic!!!).
I`m lusting after MORE Levels with a relentless enthusiam, unabated after

Public Note to Our Glorious Editor....Rich somebody or other...!!
I really can`t believe the disgraceful behaviour you displayed in the
previous issue of the Newsletter - "WHERE`S MY PRESENTS??" indeed!!
What the rest of us want to know is, why the hell we weren`t invited to
the party??!! You`ve, no doubt, been stuffing yer face with Cakes &
Jellies over the past month - what about us??!! (Present`s in the Post!!).

SOURCES
^^^^^^^
Due to a few emails concerning where the majority of Doom\Doom2\Heretic\
Hexen\Quake etc etc levels can be found, I`ve included a List of ftp
Sites where these can be downloaded from - just select the nearest one to
you!! - DON`T all head off for ftp.cdrom.com as it tends to be chocker
(i.e. overrun or busy!!!). Have Fun!!!

Please also note that some of the Levels I`ve mentioned in this & the
previous article originally came from BBS`s - I got them from some
Shareware Catalogs!!! (Yes, I paid for `em!!). BUT there MUST be LOADS
more Levels on numerous BBS`s throughout the world, or on various Hard
Drives - Get Busy!! - Upload `em!! - I Want `Em!!! Don`t be shy!!! Please
get in touch if you know of other Levels (FOR ALL GAMES - Doom\Doom2\
Heretic\Hexen\ROTT\Quake\Wolfenstein\S.O.D. etc etc) - not included on
the usual ftp sites - ESPECIALLY if you have access to AOL & Compuserve
Games Areas!! I can accept LARGE files as attachments to email message -
just zip `em up & whip `em off to me!!!

Primary DOOM FTP Sites and Mirrors
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The "Primary" site contains the "master copy" of the DOOM FTP Archive.
Contributions can be uploaded to the /pub/idgames/incoming directory,
but LMPs should be uploaded to the /pub/idgames/lmps/incoming directory.

"Mirror" sites each have a duplicate of the primary's idgames hierarchy
(sometimes with a different name) that is updated on a daily basis.
If a mirror site is closer to you, please use it instead of the primary.
Log in as "anonymous" or "ftp". Use your e-mail address as the password.
Some ftp sites also support WWW access (noted by http URL in list below).

Thanks to John Essen for the above info!! (Swiped from the R.G.C.D.
Newsletter - You just can`t trust anybody anymore, can you??!! - ho
  hum!!)

Nosty Notes: Thanks for your continuing lists of great levels, Robin.
I hope you continue to send in future articles on an occasional basis...
even if the news won't be on any set schedule anymore...we'd still like
to see them.

One note to the above sites for Cdrom.com and it's mirrors - keep in mind
that anything you upload to Cdrom.com becomes the property of Cdrom.com
and they can use your stuff to generate profit for themselves. I don't
say this to discourage people from uploading their stuff...they should
just be aware of that....and, unfortunately, many have not been aware
of that before it was too late.
