I am starting to work on a little project with Quake engine and I
would like to know what people think and if something have already
been done in that direction :

I would like to translate/resize/change color/etc of object in a Map
base on music MIDI messages. The goal is to make an environment that
will react and move base on beat of the music in Real-time.
For example I will be able to connect each Z position of step of a
staircase on different music notes.
My module will have a float variable for each MIDI note changing from
0 to 1.0. Any object in the map will have access to theses variable to
modifier whatever parameter they want.

1-	Is any think have been done in that direction (with Quake engine or
any other engine)

2-	Is this something I program with the SDK. Can I poll in a separate
thread Midi Input Device and give access theses variables that will
change in the background.

Any idea will be welcome.
