Love is irrelevant.

There are lots of examples in cultures all over the world of arranged
marriages and even in Western Culture the "wrong choice" can still be
frowned upon by your family, or you can be pushed into choosing a particular
person.
This happens a lot in wealthier families and marriage is a way of forming
alliances, doing deals, improving status etc...
However for poor ppl with no desire for these things you find that in the
same cultures arranged marriages are less, and thus love becomes more of an
issue.
It's a kind of selective breeding we impose upon ourselves...
