What most developers are doing today to support the chip is writing their programs to support CL's 3D library which currently runs on their VL-bus 3D card using (I believe) the Glint chip and for which CL is making their new card compatible. So anything written for their old card should work on their new card, if you don't believe me ask someone there. #9 are farther along with their product but I haven't asked too many questions about it so I don't know all that much about it. Just because all the boards use the same chip doesn't mean that they are all directly compatible (although it would be nice if they were). Different ways of implementing the chip on the board can cause new drivers to be needed.
