If you're talking really local, go buy some cheap twenty dollar network cards, two terminators, two T's, and a small length of cable. Connecting locally: 1. on the first modem, put in the regular initialization string, then AT X1, then AT H1. 2. On the second modem, put in the regular initialization string, then AT A They SHOULD connect. OOPS ! I didnt answer your original question though. You said you wanted to play multiplayer games. Well, with Doom, you should change the modem.cfg of the first computer so that X1 is in the initialization string and that AT H1 REPLACES the dial prefix. On the second computer, change the modem.cfg so that AT A is the dial string. Run "sersetup -dial" on both computers (dont put a phone number in there) I HAVENT TESTED THIS (although it wont break anything), so i dont know if it will work perfectly. If you have trouble with the game starting, you might have to use the "-player" parameter of sersetup. Just type "sersetup -player 1 -dial" on the first, and type "sersetup -player 2 -dial" on the second. I hope that works (i dont have two computers right here to test it, sorry) :')
