WELCOME TO THE GUIDE
====================
All moves and fatalities listed are now confirmed. All are guaranteed to
work 100% of the time. This list is for a version 1.0 or 1.1 machine.
If you have any additions send mail directly to me and I will include it
in the next guide. Moves and fatalities posted to rec.games.video.arcade
and alt.games.mk will also be incorporated into this guide. Credit will
be given to those who contribute or post moves which are later confirmed.
The guide will be posted every WEDNESDAY until all the moves and
fatalities are discovered. There have been, up to this date, eight other
moves lists posted to the newsgroups, all of which were edits of this
guide. They claimed that the moves in the guide were wrong and didn't
work. Keep in mind that this is posted ONCE a WEEK, and some moves may
not be on the latest revision.
For those of you with Internet access, you can finger me at my e-mail
address for the latest revision of the guide. If you would like, you can
add the line "alias mk2 finger jir...@stein.u.washington.edu" to your
.login file. Next time you log on, type "mk2" and the most recent
revision will show up on your screen. I have no mailing list, but I will
honor requests for the guide. Hopefully, this will somewhat reduce the
amount of "Please send me the MKII moves list" posts.
==========================
NEW ADDITIONS TO THE GUIDE
==========================
o New format, which is a combination of the original guide and
the original MK FAQ by Lei Wang. Sections added are rumors, basic
definitions (for the fighting game impaired), and individual combos.
Sections which will be added in the future are retaliation, strategy,
story line, and game texts. A mini-guide will also be posted along with
the main guide, containing a brief description on how to execute the
moves.
o A few fatalities were added. The fatalities included in the
first two drafts were only executable on the test versions and were
removed. Known fatalities now are: Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Johnny Cage,
Reptile, Jax, Mileena, Scorpion, and two of Baraka's. Fifteen left to
find.
=======================
RUMORS AND GAME SECRETS
=======================
o Rumors coming out of the AMOA show suggest the possibility of
up to three hidden characters. Kano or Sonya could be one of these
hidden characters, as they are no longer selectable fighters. They were
said to be chained to the background on one of the test versions of MKII,
but were not seen in release versions.
o Other rumors floating around r.g.v.a. are:
o You can get to the "?" on the advancement screen by
getting a double flawless and fatality on The Portal.
o You can fight the flaming guy on The Pit II. The
flaming guy will fall of the bridge from time to time.
This is similar to the moon appearances deal in MKI.
o As a general rule, never believe anything you read on
Prodigy or in EGM.

===================
GENERAL DEFINITIONS
===================
Button names are listed in all caps. While reading through the moves,
the + can be substituted by and, and the - can be substituted by then.
For example, 'two forward - HIGH PUNCH' should be read as 'press the
joystick twice towards the opponent then press HIGH PUNCH'. Another
example, 'LOW PUNCH + BLOCK' should be read as 'press LOW PUNCH and BLOCK
at the same time'.
Quarter-Circle Towards: Move joystick from the down position to the
forward position then press the button
indicated. (actual movement is down - down to
forward - forward - BUTTON)
Quarter-Circle Away : Move joystick from the down position to the away
position and press the button indicated.
(actual movement is down - down to away - away -
BUTTON)
hold then release: Press and hold the button indicated while your
character charges. When finished charging release
the button. Other actions may be performed while
charging, but if you are hit the charge is lost. You
can also charge a move before a round begins.
(hold BLOCK): Block is only used in a move or fatality to stabilize your
fighter, and to keep them from jumping or moving backwards
or forwards. Make sure you release BLOCK before pressing
a required button. You do not need to use block if you
can be at the right distance for a fatality.
down - up: The teleport can also be down by flicking the joystick down,
making the joystick spring up and down.
