Hey, I know the group is nearly dead and what-not, but I thought I'd ask a question or two: 1) Has anyone here played *both* MK: Deadly Alliance and Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus for that XBox thing? I am asking because I'm looking forward to the price drop in home systems that is coming in a few months...and because, well, my thumbs get along better with the XBox controller than the Gamecube's or PS2's... (that and a more coherent online strategy, and a *lack* of a habit of making overly cutesy games)...but I digress... Point is, I've read a couple of reviews, and it seems like Tao Feng would compare sorta favorably to MK:DA (Tobias's game vs. Boon's game after all) if only the pieces *fit* together better...that is the graphics are sweet, the sound is good, and there's a few good ideas in there in terms of gameplay, but the mix doesn't add up to the sum of its parts. And I have some trouble believing this, as certain magazines are *hard* on any fighting game that isn't part of some big-number franchise. I mean, people diss MK:DA for having button-mash gameplay and yet Tekken 4 gets a free pass on this...and heaven help Kakuto Chojin or Tao Feng for having the *same thing* going on as the big boys. So the question is, has anyone played both Tao Feng *and* MK:DA on the XBox? (no sense comparing apples to oranges by bringing up MK:DA on the other systems, since my thumbs aren't having it) And does Tobias's game hold up well in comparison to Boon's? 2) How about that MK6? Early word has it that it will be online somehow...and that Boon is going to take the game apart and put it together in a new shape *again* as he did with Deadly Alliance... Are these good ideas? Wasn't Deadly Alliance pretty good as is? I played the PS2 version at a friend's place (he has a *joystick*, thank GOD) and aside from the lameness of the hidden stuff, and certain old-schoolers not having their *original* moves anymore, it was pretty damn spiffy if I do say so myself. I mean, don't get me wrong, online does look like the future of gaming for social/arcade gamers like myself...but only if it doesn't ruin the gameplay, or dumb it down to a ridiculous degree (like, oh, a certain EO mode in a certain Capcom Versus game let's say). I'd hate to see the game make leaps and bounds in offline gameplay only to play like MK3 in online mode because some scrub *says so*. And, well....I have my second thoughts about making MK a whole new game *yet again*. I mean, do we need to make the juggle physics *even less* like MK and more like Tekken? Really, do we need to tweak the gameplay so much that it looks like yet another generic button-masher, with nothing special about it aside from the license? I'm just asking.....if anyone is still out there besides spammers and scammers, of course. Have fun, Brad Poe Quote from Baby Bonnie Hood (aka Bulleta), Big Bad Wolf Attack Victim and enthusiastic Supporter of the Right to Bear Arms: "I'll be nice and happy after I kill everything in this world."
