Ok... time for my first blathering about MK2...

It took a little while to get used to the handling of the characters on this
one... they're a little looser than MK, which is for the better I think.
It's also a little easier to hit (it's much easier knocking people out of the
air, for example... a weak point for MK1, in my opinio

One thing that I hoped they would include, but really didn't, was an
intelligent computer opponent. There are lots of you who say that the machine
is too hard, but I think it's not so much hard, as it is cheap. I have
found SO many traps you can get the computer into, it makes playing the
game silly- the women pose a problem only because they can walk up and throw
you (repeatedly) so fast. Samurai Showdown is a great computer opponent- I
was hoping MK2 would be as well...

I've only seen one original character fatality posted, Scorpion... I wonder
if the other original characters are also similar to their original
fatalities, with a *slight* difference... we did manage to figure out
Baraka's on our own, but thanks for the postings, guys :)

Question is, now where's the secret stuff :) There's the obvious ? square...
and is that a black square next to Kitana's box? Also, no one seems to
have noticed yet, but in the test mode, there's this thing called 'Shawn
attacks'... (I'm not one to say that this means anything, but hey, I'm
just pointing it out that its there :) )

I haven't noticed anything that changes from one screen to the next, like
the moon appearances in MK. I have gotten several double flawlesses with
fatalities (Baraka, who else) without using block, but nothing secret...
I wonder if maybe there have to be certain conditions or something... or maybe
secret things haven't even been put in yet... or maybe there's nothing
secret at all (we talk like there HAS to be something secret :) ) Of course,
it still doesn't explain the ? square...
Ah well... the game is still quite young...

As for character preferences so far.... my old favorite was Scoripion, but
he lacks compared to some of the new moves and speed... I'm learning to
appreciate Liu Kang and Reptile... Liu can be vicious! He can deliver an
almost unstoppable barrage... and Kitana also has some evil combos as well
(I'm not the best with her, but I usually end up fighting this kid who uses
her well... I win, of course, but not by much usually :) )

Well, that's enough blathering for now.... 'later!!!

I've killed Baraka (more than once) by repeatedly using Raiden's
	lightning.

Does anyone know how many difficulty settings MKII has?

It has 5 difficulty settings...
All the machines I've seen are set on level 1 (Easiest)
Level 5 is impossible...

U of Penn has its machine set to level 5. the guy said so himself because
"he wanted to see what level we play at" ptui. it's almost impossible to
get past kang and cage, and almost no one has gotten past the women. ackptt.

The version I've played on (Thanksgiving Night) was so freaking hard that
there was no way in hell we could cheez Kintaro to death. I mean, we
tried flame-skulling him to death: Pounce. Superman-Slam him to death:
get grabbed out of the air. Time Liu Kang's Fireballs sky-high and low:
Pounce or walk in and toast you. Baraka-fury him to death: Grab right
through it.

If anyone else has come across this problem, empathize, and offer a strategy.

I prefer harder settings, but if you can't even jump past him, then I can't
think of a decent way around him.

I've heard that ours (CMU) is on level 5 :(

The computer is incredibly cheezy- but a few players here have found
some counter-cheezy moves against the computer, and can get up to the
Goro look-alike pretty easily with sub-zero's ground and person freeze.
Continuously punching also seems to keep the computer at bay, so you
can frequently time-out a round once you are ahead.

Sounds familiar. Where we play, it was set on 5. After seeing it in
effect, they conceded and put it down to four. It's still pretty
impossible to get past Kintaro, even being as cheap as possible. Any
suggestions?

Well, I beat the game this morning, but I was CHEAP. I was using Sheng
Tsung vs. Kintaro, but this would probably work with anyone... at the
beginning of the round, back up until he is JUST within leg sweep range.
Leg sweep and then start tapping the low punch button as fast as possible.
He will sit there until the time runs out.

Then against the last guy (I forget his name), I used Sub-Zero and the old,
reliable Freeze, Uppercut, Repeat. Took me three tries to get the timing
right, but as long as the freeze hits him just as he is getting up, it
works like a charm.

I wish Midway would have put the endings in before they released it
though... It is quite a let down to beat the computer only to see "GAME
OVER". Oh well, gotta wait for the ROM upgrades, I guess.

Kintaro will destroy you on ANY level... at level 1, you must do every
cheeze technique perfectly, or you are COMPLETE toast! no prayer...

It's not the difficulty setting, it's the game itself...
