First off, I would like to thank the dozens of people who replied to my
first post about how to get to Reptile. It appears that I was offbase on
many things that needed to be cleared up.
Although not everyone could agree on each particular point, I am
summarizing what I now believe to be the correct information on Reptile.
Again, if I have made any mistakes or omitted ANYTHING, please let me.
(Note: My questions are directed soley at the Arcade Version of Mortal
Kombat. I know that the requirements are a little easier for SNES
versions.)
- It *DOES* matter which version of MK you have if you want Reptile. A
minimum of version 3.0 is required.
- Aside from switching it off, is there any other way to tell if I
have the right version?
- The only situational criteria for fighting Reptile is to be on a Pit
Screen with shadows flying across and in a one player mode.
- It doesn't matter what Pit Screen (even Endurance is okay)
- It doesn't matter if you have lost matches before reaching the
Pit Screen
- It doesn't matter if someone joined in before so long as you are
fighting solo at the time you reach the proper Pit Screen.
- A double flawless and fatality is needed on the Pit Screen and you are
not allowed to use BLOCK.
- Not required to have been preformed in other matches.
- Can throw one match (becuase you got hit) and still execute this
during the third round.
- Cannot use BLOCK even for fatalities which means Sonya cannot
reach Reptile.
Assuming this is correct, there are still a few rumours/questions I would
like to pose (mostly from peoples replies to me)
1) How often (or likely) are shadows to appear across the moon? I got
several different answers
1) Approximately 1 in 7. (I am not sure if this is games, or Pit
Screen appearances)
2) About every 40 matches.
3) Whenever the final credits (after defeating Shang Tsung) have
shadows flying across that moon, the next player's Pit Screen
will have shadows. (Most people who replied claimed this to be
a rumour but one person replied that this is fact. Is it?)
2) There are several different battle screens (my estimate is about seven
or eight) is there a proper sequence so you can predict when the Pit Screen
will appear?
3) This was a rumour. Is it true that if you get to Reptile and defeat him
with double flawless and fatality, you "inherit" his abilities? If so then
my questions are:
- Is Block forbidden to be used?
- By inheriting his abilities, you get Scorpion and Subzero's
moves but do you also get Reptile's speed?
- By inheriting, do you mean that you become Reptile? It would
make for an interesting Mirror Match. :)
That about covers it. If you know the answer to these questions and
rumours I would really appreciate them being cleared up. Thanks to
everyone for their speedy replies to my earlier post and I hope it will
continue with this one.

Most of the information below is already contained in the MK Guide. Here I will only comment on corrections. Not to display the version number, unless you reset it during game play, which is effectively turning it off. You can tell that it's very likely v3.0+ by observing certain points of game play. The exact differences are listed in the Guide. > - The only situational criteria for fighting Reptile is to be on a Pit > Screen with shadows flying across and in a one player mode. > - A double flawless and fatality is needed on the Pit Screen and you are > not allowed to use BLOCK. (Most people who replied claimed this to be > a rumour but one person replied that this is fact. Is it?) Not a fact. One does not necessarilly follow the other, at least on v3.0. > 2) There are several different battle screens (my estimate is about seven > or eight) is there a proper sequence so you can predict when the Pit Screen > will appear? There are seven screens, and the game goes through them in order, except before Goro, in which case it will always end in the dungeons. There is an exact sequence but I might get it wrong if I write them down off the top of my head. > 3) This was a rumour. Is it true that if you get to Reptile and defeat him > with double flawless and fatality, you "inherit" his abilities? If so then > my questions are: Double flawless & fatality on Reptile will inherit you nothing except for the usual points +10 million. A second player joining in during a reptile match will see Reptile as one of the portraits during the character selection process, but will end up as the normal character if selected, not Reptile. I will mention this last rumour in MKGuide60(next week!hope!) so that at least some people won't be confused. -- ( Lei Wang ) *l2w...@napier.UWaterloo.ca* Business + CS is a Lethal Load ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ME: Univ. of Waterloo YOU: Huh? o=> ME: in Canada, YOU: Huh? There is an easy way to reset the machine (well, you could alway use the
little button, but that's no fun!). On an endurance match, make the first
opponent more damaged than you and let time run out. The machine will
think,"Time's up, player is ahead: they win. It's an endurance match, so
bring out the next opponent, but wait! Time's up! What do I do?!? Time to
crash!" And so it does! :)
