(Sorry about the first attempt, I hope this corrects it.) To All Mortal Kombat (Reptile) Experts, I am not a pro at MK but people at my university are. I have seen them get flawless matches and fatalities... perhaps even a double flawless but never the double flawless & fatality on the Pit Screen. The reason for this is simple... NO ONE HAS EVER EVEN HEARD OF REPTILE HERE!!! (Except me.) Since I desperately want to see someone find (and beat) Reptile, I spoke to the local arcade manager about posting some signs around our Mortal Kombat machine telling people about Reptile and how to get to him. Once people see this, they will try to do it. And hopefully I will be there to see it. Since I am the one drawing up the poster, I want to make sure that I include every possible bit of information required to get to Reptile. I'll give them the info and then they will have to do it themselves. Based on what I have read from the newsgroups, this is what I believe the criteria is: (IF I AM WRONG OR OMIT ANYTHING, PLEASE CORRECT ME!!!) 1) Must win all matches up to the first Pit Screen. 2) No other player may join in before getting to the first Pit Screen and defeating Reptile or you've missed your chance. (Whether you win the match or not is irrelevant right?) 3) On the Pit Screen, you must preform a double flawless and fatality. 4) You must preform #3 without using the BLOCK button (except if when doing your fatality the BLOCK button is required). 5) You must preform #3 in the first two rounds. You cannot throw the first or second match to try for the double flawless. 6) Something must pass in front of the moon on the Pit Stage. (Any idea how likely that is?) Questions I need answered: 1) Excluding the Pit Screen - You don't need flawlesses or fatalities - You don't need to win each round. Merely 2 of 3 rounds. - It is acceptable to use BLOCK. (Including the TEST YOUR MIGHT SCREENS.) 2) Reptile appears on all versions of MK? (I am not sure what version ours is) 3) Only the 1st Pit Screen will do? (Ie. If you miss it the first time, you can't try again in the Endurance Rounds or something.) If you *can* try again, is it possible to beat Reptile twice? 4) Defeating Reptile entitles you to 10,000,000 points. (What I want to know is if you MUST execute your fatality move on Reptile or not to get it.) This is everything I know and all the questions I don't have answers to that I think I need solved. If I have omitted something and didn't ask a question about it, it is because I don't know about it. Please fill me in! (I would prefer replies POSTED so that if there is some confusion, it can be debated by everyone. It will also avoid people repeating the same things and is probably of interest to most people.) Thanks in advance Alan Bick

No. You cannot use block at all. No way around it. That means you can't
play Sonya, since she is the only one that requires block. Scorp's can be
done without block.

Yes you can throw one of the rounds to get the double flawless.

I'd say it comes every five or six games... The only way I know of how to
predict it is this: beat Shang Tsung, at the credits where the pit stage
is in the background, if there is shadows flying across the sky, then the
next game will have them at the pit stage. But this doesn't happen every
time you beat Shang Tsung...

The first three matches (the pit's the fourth) don't matter. You can use
block, lose one round, don't need flawlesses, etc on those rounds. Just
win them.
> 2) Reptile appears on all versions of MK? (I am not sure what

No. Only on versions 3.0 and higher. To check what version you have,
just flip the power switch (located usually on the top left of the
machine) on and off. There should be a line at the top that says
something like "Revision 3.0 8/10/92"

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the shadows on the moon will still be there
on that round. I haven't gotten double flawless on that round before, so
I don't know if you can get Reptile there. My guess would be you probably
can.

You MUST do the fatality. Otherwise you just get the usuall points for
winning a match.

Hmmm .. I believe that covers it all.
Happy searching,
John

I'm not sure about the arcade, but I was able to play Sonya to get to reptile on Genesis. I didn't block during the rounds but I did press block to do fatality. The easiest way to confirm is to use the cheat menu, set flag 0 and change the last option to the pit. Then select Sonya. -- - Stephen Lee Silicon Graphics Inc. 2011 N. Shoreline Blvd., - P.O. OK, lets see what I can do, eh? First of all, it can be done on any pit stage when playing human vs. computer when 6) is active [moon appearances], it doesn't have to be the first one in the match, I think I got to Reptile once on the second endurance... You can throw one of the three rounds in order to get a double flawless.. I'm not positive about whether or not Sonya can get to Reptile, but I haven't heard much either way so far... > >Questions I need answered: > 1) Excluding the Pit Screen > - You don't need flawlesses or fatalities > - You don't need to win each round. Well, see above, but I doubt that you'd get moon appearances twice in one game... I think the chances were, like, one in twenty or thirty... > 4) Defeating Reptile entitles you to 10,000,000 points. (What I > want to know is if you MUST execute your fatality move on Reptile > or not to get it.) Well, when we used to beat Reptile on a Rev. 3.0 [the best, IMHO], I don't remember getting the points, but it's not like the points matter much, eh? Hope this helps... I don't know about the home versions, but at the arcade, it is possible to get reptile with Sonya. I have done it myself many times. I don't block all round, and then I block while doing the fatality, and iot still gives it to me. As for Scorpion, just tap highpunch and do your Up-Up and it gets it, and I don't even want to risk not getting reptile because of using block with Scorpion. It is, after all, not necessary. Isn't this ERMAC thing funny, folks? Take a look at any arcade MK machine owner's manual and it's proven false right then and there. - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - Mike/garion@indirect.com/SD[MAX] Images & Words 1993/sydest2.com sysadmin I stand alone today. I don't know about Genesis, but the original poster said he wanted to put
this sign at his local arcade. And I know the arcade doesn't let you
press block at all. I think I'll try it on the SNES MK and see if Sonya
can get to him.

Nothing else matters before that... > 2) Reptile appears on all versions of MK? (I am not sure what > version ours is) No he doesn't... Here in Amsterdam there is only 1 arcade machine where you can get to Reptile... Now I know why since I read in this thread that it's bcoz of a new chip... > 3) Only the 1st Pit Screen will do? (Ie. No, I also got Reptile in a second pit (an endurance match). No, you can't beat Reptile twice coz like I wrote b4, as far as I know you can get Reptile only every 50 fights or so (fights, not games)... > 4) Defeating Reptile entitles you to 10,000,000 points.
