Does objects fly by the moon every once in a while?  If so, it only works then.

Yes I have had this problem too. I have seen no moon sightings, so I figured
that there wasn't any, and to get to Reptile, you just had to get a double
flawless and fatality. But I have done this many times on every setting but
Hard, and nothing. And today, my friend, who also had the Genesis version,
said that at long last, he saw a moon sighting (Santa Claus). He did not
manage a double flawless and fatality tho. :(

BTW-I did make it to Reptile on the SNES version :) Kicked his butt!
