EGM strikes again?

I picked up the latest EGM magazine a couple of days ago. I was looking at
the reviews of Mortal Kombat for the SNES, Genesis, Gameboy, and Game Gear. I
got the impression that EGM dogged Nintendo pretty hard on the ratings. The
only drawback I read was the blood--I think there were a couple minor, but
the blood dominated each reviewers comment. Then I turned the page and read the
review of the Genesis' version. Well, they were giving the impression that
the SNES version was far superior to the Genesis. But, they harped on "the
blood". I realize that "the blood" is a BIG part in Mortal Kombat, but I
don't feel that it should have played such a BIG part in rating the two games.

My friends and I felt that they should have released two versions of Mortal
Kombat for the SNES--one with blood and one without. The people that Nintendo
is trying to protect are kids who are too young to purchase the game on their
own. Since the parents will be purchasing it, then the parents are obligated
to deciding whether they want their child playing one version over the other.
Heck, ask the stores to comment on any adult buying the "bloody" version.
Thus making the potential parent aware.

As far as sales it concerned, we all know that the "bloody" version would
outsale the "no bloody" version; but atleast there will be a choice such that
if a parent doesn't want to have blood, a parent won't get blood.

I realize that this has probably been a dogged-out discussion already; but I
just had to comment on the unfairness EGM gave the SNES's version. Am I
wrong?

Thanks
Rod
