Does anyone use the jumping straight up kick that the computer seems to
like so much to defend against jump ins?

I don't (yet), but it seems like it would be a lot more consistant than
an uppercut attempt...

I do every once in a while, but it's not my favorite cheesy atack.
Most of the time I like to wait till they're busy throwing a knife,
fireball, or something like that and then jump in and kick them in the
face. (In case no one's tried it yet, you can (sometimes) win an entire
fight with just jump kicks. Just don't do it all the time or your
opponent'll catch on. Also, I only recommend using this pattern against
the machine. Human opponents will probably catch on in about 3 seconds.
