If you ever made copies of VCR rentals, made a recording
of your friends Led Zepplin CD, or have an unregistered
copy of Win Zip on your PC, your a pirate[call the police,
911]. Anyone with common sense can see the computer sotfware
business is no different than other industries. Oh,
they want you to think otherwise, and that they're in a
different catagory, but they're not. they're in the same
catagory as the VCR and music industry. The true definition
of pirating is making bootlegs for profit, not personal use.
Led Zeplin and Metallica sure worked hard on that
album, they spent years on it, but what do the record
companies charge for it, 15$ for the CD, Whoa, those groups
got ripped off. Computer companies charge 40 or 50 dollars
for their CD. My point is game software is way overpriced.
If they would bring the price down and offer Demos on all
products they would profit in the long run.

I totally agree.. Programmers should get compensated for their hard
work, but the average schmoe like me doesn't want to blow $50 every
couple of weeks for a new set of coasters, if you get my drift.. More
demos, I say..

Point made. I can relate. Anyway, I visited several of
these full version sites. I tried to load the full version
of Warcraft 2. It took me a while to get onto the ftp site,
the error said it was too full of users. when I did get
on I was constantly getting bumped off line. I finally
gave up. I tried this at several different times, same thing.
I also tried to load Quake, same thing.
Consider the possibility that these full version
games are uploaded to an anonymous ftp site as a way
to mass-spread a PC virus. The unsuspecting user thinks
he's getting Quake free, little does he know there is
a virus attached to this file. Most of these "free"
sites are hackers homepages anyway. Do you trust them?
I've decided that it's better to buy the full version
of a game. You get the manual and technical help from
the company if needed, and you can also download add-ons
and patches ect... from the companies homepage. Ok,
enough said, most of you are probably not with me anymore
anyway.

Thanks, John
