I ran into the Dark Reign problem too, found away around it though.  You need
CD-R software capable of making a "Disc-at-once" burn.  Plus, don't forget
to make sure that the volumn label of your burn is the same as the volumn
label on your DR disk.  if you don't use "disc-at-once" your CD-R will leave
2 second pauses between tracks, activision obviously makes use of this and
checks for the pauses.

Before anyone bitches me out about piracy, I back-up ALL of my CD's now that
I shelled out $400 for a CD-R.  I play off the copies, and yes occaisionally
loan them to friends.  This way I don't have to beat up on my originals, which
are damn hard to replace if they get scratched, etc..
