Well, actualy you are wrong about the 90 mhz 596 being faster than a pentium.
So far, the onlyting that can match the pentiums speed is the Cyrix chip, but a P-200 pro w/ MMX outruns the fastes cyrix chip and proably will, once the new chipset comes out for the pentium, now MMX kinda sux, but the combo of MMX and the new chipset will be AWSOME.
I guess if you mean a pentium 20 against a 586 90, then that would be faster :)

You dont want to compress your drive w/ WIN95 (or for use with games for that matter)

Always ask the Manufacturer of the HD and the Type od IDE Controler card before you buy.
Hundreds of $ in software eh? I guess if you cound all the stuff that came pre-loaded on your sys it does, but the company didnt pay that much, neither would anyone else (i thin most companeis end up actualy paying 60-100 $ for ALL the software on your machine when you buy it)
