~Hey, I just sent mail to postm...@execpc.com on the chain letter ~that originated there, and the poster lost his usenet account. I got ~a reply today from the postmaster letting me know if the person ~calls and talks to them about it, they might give him his account ~back. Once. ~See, it does work! Think you'll have to read another spam from that ~cat? I think not. ;-) EXACTLY! I have personally cost 28 spammers their accounts in 1996. Of course, I have a deal set up with my ISP where a autoresponse is sent from the postmaster to the account I specify when I send mail with SPAM in the subject :-) A beautiful system, a letter from me and my ISP, and the other sysadmin takes notice. Here's the letter I send to the offending spammer and cc to his postmaster: Postmaster; Please advise your client that I do not appreciate his spam and/or unsolicited email. Please take any actions necessary to prevent future occurrences of this nature from your client. I would also like the source of the mailing list that your client possesses which contains my email address, so I may have my address removed.Thank you for your attention in this matter. Sincerely, Edward McCain tar...@communique.net tar...@juno.com Unsolicited mailings to FAX machines and computer systems are prohibited under federal laws (47 USC 227) and provide for civil penalties and claims of $500.00 per occurrence (47 USC 227[c]) may be assessed.
