Doesn't a DVD burner still cost like $350-$500, not to mention time upgrading the PC you need to run it? Blank DVDs are like, what, $4-5 each? Cable Internet is about $30 more a month than dial-up? Modding you PS2 costs what - let's say $40 plus half a day. I have at least 19 PS2 games, and I've had my machine for 22 months. 6@$50, (includes 2 T-Shirts) 4@$30, 6@$20, and 3 for Christmas, for a total of $540. So your way, I'd spend $350 [Drive] + (7x$4)[Blank DVD Discs] + (12x$1)[Blank CDs] + ($40?)[Modchip] + (4x$5.15/hr+$3)[Modchip install + misc. supplies] + (22x$30)[Faster Internet] = 350+28+12+40+20.60+3+660 = $1,113.60. Nobody would get me any games for Christmas if they knew I could just burn them. They might get me some blank DVDs, though. Oh, I forgot. Tack on $30 to the piracy side for 2 T-shirts. The plus side of this, is that if I wanted a lot more games, I could break even eventually. Even if they were all DVD games, you could conceivably break even somewhere around 40-50 games. The down side would be that the developers wouldn't make a red cent, and would cause them to either a) raise their price for everyone else or b) develop in a more profitable arena. Also, this scenario would cut down on my time at the mall, interacting with cute humans. I'll pass. I should be playing Dead or Alive right now. (Actually, I should be playing Tekken 4, but it won't be here until Monday. :P) Chris
