dp...@muskwa.ucs.ualberta.ca (Papp Denis) asked two questions:

Answer to number two is that the green ninja you saw was the fabled Reptile,
who possess the fighting abilities of both Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Very rarely
does he come out before a match and give you hints regarding himself.

Which brings us to question number one: the only way to fight Reptile is to
fight the computer on the Pit screen. You could have been fighting against
somebody else, but while on the bridge you MUST be fighting the computer.
And the machine must be version 3.0 or above. Older versions do not have
Reptile occurances.

With all the above conditions being met, something must fly over the moon.
If nothing other than clouds pass by the moon, then Reptile will not come out.
But if you do see strange things flying across the moon, pay attention. You
must achieve a double flawless on the computer. Of the two matches that you
win against the computer character, you cannot use the block button. You also
have to execute the fatality at the end to prove your worthiness. Therefore
if you get hit in the first match, might as well lose the round and try for
double flawless during the next two matches. If you get a flawless in the
first match and get hit, you can also lose the second round. If you get the
third match to be flawless, you can still go down the pit and fight Reptile.
