[OT] Wish me luck!!!

I'm having panic attacks every couple of minutes thinking about tommorrow.
(Fri) I've got to give a five minute speech to my class about 'The High
Street Shop will/will not survive the combined assault from out of town
superstores and the Internet.'
I'm dreading it.................
I'm rather quiet in class, (1 because it's boring, and 2 it's not really in
my nature to be outgoing) so this speech worries me. I thought speaking to
my fav friends on my fav newsgroup would cheer me up. I'm doing it at 1:00
BST tommorow so I hope you'll all be thinking about me. I will receive your
wishes of luck as long as you post them by 12:00, as I can then go on
Deja.com in school and read your kind messages.

I'll tell you how it went tommorow. My heart's beating faster now just at
the thought of it.
Don't you just hate school!

You picked a nice easy point to take on!!

>I'm dreading it.................

I'm not suprised!!

>I'm rather quiet in class, (1 because it's boring, and 2 it's not really in

I found the best way to deal with it is to just pick one or two people in
the class (good frends for preference!)and talk to 'them only'.

>I thought speaking to my fav friends on my fav newsgroup would cheer me up.

Oops....Sorry a bit late. But I suppose You can read it at home!!!

Then don't!!!!

>Don't you just hate school!

I know I hated it when I was there!!!
I just dropped out of a course at my local collage. But they were all kids
(No disrespect intended!!) And as I am now 26 married with a kid of my own,
being around kids being kids annoys me a bit......Oh well! B-(

[OT] Here's how it happened

......The teacher walked into class, with a huge grin emblazening his face.
He proudly announced, "And now let's here some of these speeches..."
My heart thundered. It felt like a train going past me.
"Anyone like to volunteer to go first?" said the military like Mr. McColgen
I immediately raised my hand. I had decided a couple of days ago I'd like to
go near first and get it all over and done with, otherwise I'd only be
worrying all weekend. I noticed two other people had also rose their hand.
"Does it matter which order you go in?" asked 'sir'
We three shook our heads.
"Well...er...Edward would you like to go first?"
I was horrified. I wanted to go second. I thought my heart was beating fast
before. Now I could literally feel it!!
A small clap echoed round the class as I stood up and walked towards the
front of the class.
The teacher said "Well Edward, take your time and remember you're talking to
the class, not to me. Okay?"
"Yes," I said.
"Well in your own time."
I was shaking like a leaf. Everyone could see how nervous I was, and I could
feel my face heating up.
I took a deep breath, looked at my poorly wrote notes, looked at my
watch...1:45 it said, cleared my throat...and began.
"I believe that the High Street Shop will survive the combined assault of
the Internet and Out of town superstores...blah, blah, blah"
I broke into a shuffle. It seemed to be my way of coping with the
nervousness. It looked like I was dancing!
I used my hands, and put lots of body language into it, and slowly I got
used to it.
I looked at the class, the class looked back. Some laughing at me, some not
interested, others listening carefully. I knew why. They were stealing my
ideas! Well, I thought, this would have been much worse if that idiot Steven
Kelly would have been in today...anyway.
"So my conclusions are..."
I sped up my speech. I wanted no more of this. But towards the end, a
massive smile appeared on my face.
It was over, and at precisely 1:50. Just on the 5 minute minimum and I was
greeted back to my chair with a thunderous applause,
and the usual insults from the girls sitting in front of me. They have the
mental age of a 5-year-old.
Thank god I thought. My worries were over...well...until next time.

A very shaken Edward Bernard

Going to Legoland this weekend, so I won't be back till Monday.
