It has come to my attention that I may have created the scenario with the wrong rules. I have emailed Chris to tell him to update to these rules, but before the contest begins, I'd just like to make sure that you have the right rules. Everyone who has dowloaded the scenario, please ensure that these are the correct ones. Max competitors: 1 Competitor start time: 6 months Loan: #500,000 (# because it could be 's $'s etc.) Interest rate: 3% Cost of construction: Low Speed of computer: Medium Computer Intelligence: High Breakdowns: Normal Subsidy: *3 Construction cost: Low Economy: Fluctuating Train reversing: At end of line, and at stations Disasters: On There are some I've missed out because they have been fixed and are unable to change. Keep a copy of these rules. You will probably need to adjust them before playing the game as rules set for other games you might have played, will also apply to this so it is neccessary to change them. Thank you, Eddie -- If you wanna laugh, then this is the place to go. Twisted jokes maybe, but certain one's are really funny! http://www.twistedhumor.com/cgi-bin/affiliate/banner.cgi?936

The max loan amount should be fixed, not a "#". £500,000 is equal to $1,000,000 so, which one is it? I already sent in my entry after the first 10 years and I had your old settings: Max competitors: 4 Competitor start time: 3 months Loan: $300,000 (£150,000) Interest rate: 3% Cost of construction: Medium Speed of computer: Fast Computer Intelligence: Medium Breakdowns: Normal Subsidy: *2 Construction cost: Medium Economy: Fluctuating Train reversing: At end of line only. Disasters: On What should I do? Should I change the things I can change. These include all except the Initial Loan ($300,000) and Competitor Start Time (3 months). Also, I am not worried about the loan thing because I already over $150 mil. So that I can live it, but it was tough to stay in that $300,000 loan limit while other competitors came in took my routes (temporarily). - Kit of AnkitPayal Movers and Shakers. I think that the currency units are irrelevant. Although in real life 1 = $1.60, I think TT is calculated in units so loan = #300,000, train X = #25,000. I've never tested this theory out, but it would seem the most sensible way to set the program up. cheers... chunky Ankit Desai wrote in message <37c88a59....@netnews.worldnet.att.net>... >The max loan amount should be fixed, not a "#". 500,000 is equal to >$1,000,000 so, which one is it? TT conversions go like this: 1 = $2 = FF10 = DM4 = 200 = Pt200 So the unit does make a difference. Yeah, but does not train X cost 20,000 when using UK units and $40,000 when playing a US game with a corresponding increase in maximum loan amount, therefore negating any apparent difference. cheers... chunky Aaron wrote in message <37c92530...@n3.idirect.com>... >TT conversions go like this: > >1 = $2 = FF10 = DM4 = 200 = Pt200 > >So the unit does make a difference. > > >On Sun, 29 Aug 1999 12:09:30 +0100, "chunky" <chu...@ifb.co.uk> wrote: > >>I think that the currency units are irrelevant. >>Although in real life 1 = $1.60, I think TT is >>calculated in units so loan = #300,000, train X = >>#25,000. >> >>I've never tested this theory out, but it would >>seem the most sensible way to set the program up. >> >>cheers... >>chunky >> >>Ankit Desai wrote in message >><37c88a59....@netnews.worldnet.att.net>... >>>The max loan amount should be fixed, not a "#". >>500,000 is equal to >>>$1,000,000 so, which one is it? I'm afraid Kit that you may have to start again, using the new rules. I don't know where you got these rules from, but I'm assuming that you've already played a game with these rules. TT then uses these original rules for any new games, until you change them. In algebra (?) If you played a game with 'x' rules, then any future games will be played with them also, rather than having 'y' rules (where y stands for the correct rules) About your query on the loan then i mean 500,000. This becomes $1,000,000. The game handles this by doubling all costs from the option. If you don't want to start again, fine. But it will make things harder for yourself, as everyone else will only have 1 competitor Eddie Ankit Desai <ankit...@att.net> wrote in message news:37c88a59.100367484@netnews.worldnet.att.net... > The max loan amount should be fixed, not a "#". 500,000 is equal to > $1,000,000 so, which one is it? Yeah, that's true, I think the game does all the calculations in and then adjusts for the currency you've chosen when it displays it. For the and Pt you might notice that every price ends with two zeroes, and in $ the price is always even, so it's kind of a dead give away there. Anyway, the original argument was about whether or not it made a difference to say max. loan #500 000 or to specify the unit and I was just pointing out that the unit does make a difference since 500 000 isn't the same as $500 000, which we seem to agree on anyway. Oh well.
