Well, it wouldn´t be an easy task to make a superior successor to TTD, especially when there are so many transportation games on the market / in the pipeline. Of course, TTDPatch has added so many features to the original game that it wouldn´t be possible to include the best of them and at the same time make the game more "simpler to play than TTD". :o) http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/cslocomotion/news_6092788.html As to the graphics, those pictures are .jpgs and thus details cannot be inspected very well. But from my opinion, nothing really new, anything looks rather RCT´ish. That wouldn´t be a big leap. Graphical objects seem to be made by using pre-defined textures as opposed to the individually drawn ones of TTD. Although I don´t like this approach in general because it lacks individuality, I have to confess that those graphics of Transport Giant http://www.transportgiant.com/?lang=en which uses the same isometric approach look way better. > But it's a start, and I'm looking forward to the development of > this game. Usually, CS seems to go public only when a game is "nearly finished". :o) Interestingly, the publisher will be Atari. regards Michael

Hello To be honest. It looks like a "polished" TTD. There are no real slopes. It looks like the same rectangle graphic in the old game. Have a look at Simcity4 or RRT3 for a nice 3d enviroment. Personally i prefer the iso perspective as in transport giant or industry giant. That looks nice. Paul

However I can see ttdpatch/openttd being more enjoyable ;)

Sorry to reply to myself but I just wanted to quote him; "Over the years I've learned that adding complexity doesn't necessarily mean a game is more fun to play." Well that's certainly not true for ttdpatch, its complexity is what makes it so enjoyable. It would be nice if he took some interest in/inspiration from the patch, but it doesn't look like thats the approach hes taking. :D

Lets wait and see :-)

But maybe these things are to obvious to miss if you start creating from scratch Transport tycoon II. rutger

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/cslocomotion/screens.html?page=1 it seems to me that the AI didn't get much improvement (look f.i. at the red player stations) "Paul Hoppe" <praezentor@gmx.net> schreef in bericht news:406ef0e3$0$17747$9b4e6d93@newsread2.arcor-online.net... > Hello > > To be honest. I have been trying to go back to this site every damn hour to see them screenshots - but no luck. Are they found somewhere else too? Or can somebody put them up somewhere else? Maarten

I would have hoped that if we got a tt2 that its graphics would have been sc4 quality (smooth 3d terrain, 3d rendered sprite buildings that can terrain conform). I have to say I think RRT3 looks quite shockingly bad, I actually thought that even Trains and Trucks tycoon (3DTT) looks better in some ways. There are so many things in RRT3 that just look, well unfinished, or dodgy. Of course, back to TT, I know the game is very much not just about graphics, but I think going by these screenshots that I would have preferred the game's graphics to be up to really today's standards, not RCT standards.

Cool. Rail on road, road depots (and trolley-car stations) over a
regular road section rather than as a seperate building off the side,
multi-level rail and tunnels, smooth curves (ala RCT), everything
buildable on all slope types, towns build under raised rail lines, full
map zoom-out capability, larger maps...
That, and a supposedly greatly improved AI, "much more effective and
challenging opponents for players in the new game". Improvement
shouldn't be too hard for him, worth playing with is a whole 'nother
thing.
