On another (musical) note...

If you'll pardon the pun, heh. Anyway, I have a few questions. Does
the dxmci.zip's dll (on the tools page of www.ttdpatch.net) have any
issues with 2.0.1 alpha 16? If not, does it automatically use
DirectMusic' default midi port? If it does, how do I go about
changing it? I have the sinking feeling the default midi port is for
an external device, and have no way of testing this, as I don't have
any musical instruments that I can plug into my soundcard.

Reason I'm asking is that with dxmci.dll present in TTD's directory, I
don't get any sound whatsoever, but without it present, I get that
nasty pause whenever a midi changes. I have a Hercules Gamesurround
Fortissimo III 7.1, driver version 4101 (latest from ts.hercules.com),
on a MSI K7N2 Delta-L mobo with an AMD Athlon 2400+ processor.

I've not heard of any issues with any recent version. It probably does use
the default port.

You could try going into the DirectMusic setup. Don't ask me how that's
done though... maybe someone else will have an idea. However it might be
worth to look into the midi mapper settings and choose a different default
port there.

NM, heh, figured out what was stopping the sound from playing. I had
to disable Default Port Acceleration in the Music tab in dxdiag.
