If you were both "big fans" of Monkey Island, then you would go to a shop and -buy- Monkey Island 1 and 2, instead of stealing them. Do you seriously expect LucasArts to continue making these games if they do not make any profit from their hard work because of software pirates such as yourselves? Monkey Island 1 and 2 may be old games, but the rule still applies. The fact that you're asking people to e-mail you a copy suggests that you're not "big fans" at all, just theives who happen to like adventure games.

I just like the marketing strategie of Bill Gates, first you copie it the you get used to it and the you become an addict. I don't care if you call us thieves but still I'm a fan of Monkey Island (actually I bought The Curse Of Monkey Island). Another fact, I see the games in the stores at costs between 10 and 60 dollars so tell me please. who are thieves as well? And don't fool yourself with the "big" profit question, games will always be bought (and copied aswell) and it's not to hard to make a copie-protection witch reduces the home-made copies by 80%, so it's all part of the stategie . . . . . . .really think about it. Years ago, I got an illigal copy of monkey Island 1, I got so hooked on the game that I decided to save my money for the dubbel-cd of the Curse of MI and bought the game! and I never regret it (aswell as the illegal one). Naturaly if we had enough money to buy them games, we already had them!!! Hope U understand . . . . AND ANOTHER THING!! (I always wanted to start an email like that :) If anyone calling abandonware users thiefes actually paid attention to the OTHER posts in the newsgroups you would find that indeed some of these games are no longer available. Here in Australia it is impossible to buy some of these eairlier games (see my post to alt.games.lucas-arts) and there is no bloody way on earth TRUE FANS are going to allow something as stipid as that stand in the way of their enjoyment of the sames. Just think about it for a minute.. poor suckers like me who never had PCs when these games were new will not do without once we know how good a genre is. I have been refusing to play MI3 until I get to play MI and MI2.. because the games are unseperable to a true and loyal fan.. under the logic on only playing games if they are original copies I would miss out on all 3!! Well I am afraid I am too much af a fan of the games for that to happen. If I cannot get my hands on originals of the first two games then I will indeed go to abandonware. I think that you will find most loyal and true fans would do the same. the world isn't black and white mate.. just varying shades of grey. You need to remember that. -- DanDare "No matter where you go, there you are" Buckaroo Bansai
