That's because the monkeys are listening!

And since when do you post posts with the subject "My God"? What is up
with that Mr. Pixel? Have you become religious? Have you lost it
completely? Have you finally gone insane?

By the way, what do you mean quiet?! I still have 21 unread posts, for
God's sake!!

That's Easter. This is Saturnalia. But if someone wants to call it a
Christmas Miracle, fine. As long as I get to shout "Bah, humbug!",
Dickensian English for HURG!

WHAT!?!?! FACEBOOK!!!!???!?! YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!

What's the advantage of Facebook? Would it add anything of value to my
life? Why would I venture out into the world of http to go to a
website owned by a company that is notorious for tracking and
profiling its users? And I am sure they have policies about what you
can and cannot say. That wouldn't work for me.

I hate social networks. I am not social.

I must admit to the latter myself. Unusually for Aglami, Reinder's
little rant that probably got his head as red as his haw strip filled
nose is unpleasantly accurate. I too have great misgivings about how
Facecook uses it's users. Weirdly I have far less apprehension about
Google. Even though they know much more about me, I suppose.

One Facecook thing I dislike is how it would connect people from totally
different parts of my life. I don't want colleagues from years ago
getting in touch with people I work with now or old schoolmates. Or have
a list of exes and family members. Someone relative has made a family
tree going back to, among others, medieval France. Imagine that on your
facecook page. Friend suggestions to some medieval French peasant.
Getting to know some Le Baldrick who you'd never have known otherwise.

Well, you've got some point there.
I wouldn't want to expose other people to Reinder...

One could consider a PixelFromAglami-account and a
TheOmnipotentLeaderOfAglami-account on Facecook. It would keep Reinder
in quarantine.

I used to tolerate Google. It wasn't until they started asking me to
sign up for Google+ that I started shouting at the screen like an
angry maniac on a regular basis.

On a totally serious note, I am more afraid of governments tracking
and profiling internet users than companies doing this. Of course,
this does not mean I am eager to hand over my personal information to
companies. After all, governments do have the power to confiscate
whatever information they want from companies.

In some countries this is easier done than in others. I live in a
country where it is very easy for the government to obtain information
about its internet users. And if you're caught saying negative things
about the government, you can be sent to a concentration camp for up
to three years without trial. This is not a description of some
bizarre future dystopia, but rather the the grim reality for hundreds
of millions of people.

Living in a totalitarian communist dictatorship might make me more
aware of the dangers of being tracked and profiled, but it just
surprises me how little most people seem to care about these
practices. They are too naive to realize that laws, countries and
governments can change for the worse.

That is always my easy excuse whenever people ask me why I do not use
Facebook. In reality I can access it without any problems through a
VPN. I even use Facebook myself to do background checks on people. If
they use Facebook and look like a total retard, I will not do business
with them. Most people look like a total retard, by the way.

I did the Google+ thing voluntarily. I also voluntarily kicked it out.
I've made it so that the Youtube comments you needed Google+ for or at
least some google account, don't even show up. Also as a shouting like
an angry maniac prevention scheme.

The possible exemptions are what freak me out. Everyone is a suspect and
needs to be checked. Except government institutions and officials, for
instance. Otherwise this could be misused...

From what I've heard saying negative things isn't even the main focus.
Any call to action, even a pro government rally, is unwanted. And who
could want mere citizens taking any action?

But that just means they feel the same there like most people do over
here. I'm waiting for the generation of politicians that gets badgered
with the stupid things they once said on facebook or some other social
network.

Dyxlexica is the right spelling when you're dyslexic.

I'm one of those rare people who knows at least four women that are
dyslexic. Way to go, women's lib!

Would you do business with someone that looks like a total retard, but
is just smart enough not to out himself as such on Facebook, but merely
on the slightly less known Aglami?

With which female friend did you discuss HURG?
You mean when you were at my place?

I wasn't insinuating you you couldn't access Facebook in China.
More that with the reasons you give above for not being on Facebook, it maked me wonder why it is you live in China, as it seems the reasons also seem to somewhat apply to China itself...
