Right, I was going to wait until the postcount hit a 1000 before I
came back... but I couldn't wait, so here I am, even though it's only
round a 900 now...

hmmm

There are still so many children who do not have the opportunity to earn
some extra pennies a month with interesting and challenging jobs (up to
the point they're life threatening) that nobody else is desperate enough
to do.

The series that starred Eliza Dushku (Faith from BtVS) as a mortician
with Zach Galifianakis and Jason Priestley?

What was this series like? I heard that it started off fairly mediocre, then
got interesting just in time to be cancelled.

That's indeed the general consensus. It was on Fox in the US, they have
a reputation for cancellations. Firefly for one.

I feel that they used the first episodes to set up the premise and only
later started to really flesh out the mythology. I liked it from the
start, but for most people it did need that bit extra to get over the 13
in a dozen feel.
