Take the THX 1138 references in Pinky and The Brain. Not to mention the whole Orson Welles thing that's going on with Brain. There aren't many 8 year olds getting those references. >>> Actually, you see these crappy subtitles a lot in bootleg DVDs from >>> Asia. I've ran in to a couple of those things too. But mostly with foreigners trying to speak Dutch. Or me trying my hand at writing what some foreigner was saying. One that pops into my mind now was the word 'fine'. Some Polish people were using that word to describe stuff they liked. But when I wrote it down, they asked me "what does that strange word mean". Apparently they think it should be spelled faine. They also use the word handy for cell phone. They didn't get that from English, but German. Of course I was thinking they were talking about something or person that's handy. But 'no' takes the biscuit. It means yes in Polish. Although yes is actally 'tak' in Polish. It's a dialect word from the south and it's mostly used to confirm you've understood something. It's quite a shocker when they say 'no, no, no' when you're hoping to hear you understood what they were trying to say. >>> Don't ask me, I'm blind. >> That explains the bandage on your nose. > > It ain't no bandage!! It's a cloak. You need a bigger cloak. >>> That's why the ship never left then. >>> >> There was no ship in Twin Peaks. It had a Dutch actor in it, the giant in the dreams. -- Danny.

I hate it when Germans say that. > But 'no' takes the biscuit. It means yes in Polish. Although yes is > actally 'tak' in Polish. The south I've been to they all said tag. But then again, they were young people so they probably didn't speak the dialect. >> It ain't no bandage!! What they don't speak as much as the old folks is German. In it's place has come English. They can speak German, just not at home or on the street. >>> It ain't no bandage!!
