Yeah, I know, but I thought, hey, that's a good idea for a post, and
since I was straining to think of new topics this one came naturally
to me.

He can't win! He wasn't on time telling the control people where he'd be
in Mexico three months in advance!

That, the fierce opposition from his national cyclists league that
kicked him from the national team and time-trial thing...

There's 9 days to go. A Dane in a Dutch team is in the lead and they

That's not television but a valuable internet-service provided with
taxpayer money dispensed to non-profit organizations that are based on
religion and political views or catering to a specific part of the
population, like pensioners or urban youths so they can create quality
programming for people with high standards that don't or won't watch the

Well, you've got a point with the French bit. But that adds to the
difficulty and makes those poor fellows even more brave.

So what's your opinion on running then? Seems even more sucky to me. It
takes more effort, yet you take longer to get anywhere.

Yes, taxation! Thievery! One day I'm gonna steal it back!

Meanwhile I just won't watch it. I dunno, but basically everybody I know
spends at least several hours each day watching television. When I tell
them I never watch television they look at me in surprise and ask me "if
you don't watch television, then what do you do in your free time?!" I
think it's just sad.

They all go mental at each other in the end, and then drink till they
fall over?

You answer that you post on usenet? Surf for Asian girls on the
internet? You're plotting to intercept Pixel's niece to be?

You do realize that television is still the main barer of culture in the
West? It plays a major part in bonding rituals that take place around
water coolers.

Have you seen how many bidons they empty a day? Some carry 16 of them to
supply their teammates.

Mind you, the spectators (lurkers so you will) seem to have an even
higher intake. It would explain the running along the riders with flags.

Running is okay.
But I still don't look at it on tv.

I only look at Adventure Racing on tv.

You have to drink a lot, to stand hours by the roadside to see cyclist
for a few seconds.

The what? What's Adventure Racing? A 200 meter sprint in front of a
rolling boulder? Running of the bulls after drinking 5 liters of Red
Bull? A triathlon across Antarctica?

And what's more adventurous than hurling down a mountain at 80km a hour
on a machine of less than 7kg that may break at any moment, run into a
dog, spectator, tree, car, motor driver, other cyclist or abyss of
several hundred meters deep? And you have to contend with blood tests,
urine samples, journalists (with constant suspicions of doping), two
rivaling cycling organizations trying to damage each other, the demand
to tell them where you'll be 3 months in advance and a huge number of
French people.

On the plus side, the Germans have left.

I've been up the French mountains, though I didn't use a bike,
and I'm not an Aglamian, but apart from that

Now you've done it. We'll be stuck with Reinder MacLeod, the immortal

Sad but true, even usenet users don't know what usenet is. Imagine car

I generally dislike museums and theaters, and ballet I dislike a lot. So
ehmm, no, thanks...no high culture for me. I prefer beer and porn.
