Don't get me wrong: today's games are much better looking, run much smoother and do things we were only dreaming of back then. But it tends to lack simple addictive game play. Too many buttons and combo's to bash in. Long film clips between levels. Games that can only be played online, via Facebook or need an internet connection to check if you have a legal copy and then still fails. Though there is a lot of "casual gaming", stuff like Angry Birds. I prefer games like Civilization, they don't just look better, increased complexity is actually an improvement in games like that. But I don't play enough games, I guess, to have a good view on what's up in game-land. -- Danny.
