I've had similar problems with all kinds of peripherals. Sometimes it's 
just better to use the generic Windows driver. If only to avoid the 
awesome amount of crapware you have to uninstall afterwards because 
there's no such option in the installer. Printers are a bane.

Don't buy a new one. Your eyes are gonna melt. Gaming rigs with four 
graphics cards, each card more expensive than a PS3, produce some mean 
ASCII.
