Pipe bombs do not explode downwards

I discovered a really cool phenomenon. I put a pipe bomb on top of
the "bookcase" section that swings out in the video store, then I
closed the bookcase and the pipe bomb stayed suspended in the air!
I then stood directly under it and was not injured the least bit
during detonation! I hypothesize that the programmers did not think
that it was necessary for the blast radius to extend down since you
would THINK that the pipe bomb must always sit ON something!

Either that, or you were in the "sweet spot" as I call it.

Try this: Go upstairs to the arcade in Level 1. Open the holoduke
alcove by hitting space on the Duke Nukem game. Toss a pipebomb inside
just before the door closes (this might take a few trys to get the
bomb to not bounce out). Next trigger the door again, move right in
front of the opening, making sure you plastered right against the
opening, and detonate. I take no damage doing this, but if I'm back
away from it just a hair **BOOM** I'm dead. Another spot to try is
the arcade game (I'll assume a racing game) with the chair attached.
Duck and place a bomb on the floor between the chair and the monitor.
Now stand right up against the chair and monitor facing the bomb.
Detonate: same results.. repeat and back off a bit **BOOM**

Odd, but interesting.

You can use a pipe bomb to blow open the manhole cover - in the
demolished building. I guess it depends on what it's sitting on

Come to think of it, this was probably just a tiny glitch in the game:
i.e. to the pipebomb, the bookshelf-door was still open. This is why
is stayed up in the air. You couldn't get hurt standing under it
because the bookshelf is not specified as a "destructible" object..

I think.. :)
