Duke equivalent - with Humor???

I guess what I meant about the "equivalent" was not just gameplay - but
something with a sense of humor like the old Duke games had and the creative
things you would find in the games (e.g., see yourself in a mirror, pig
bars, etc.). I've tried Halo for the PC, but it just seems rather dry. I
play a lot just on my own rather than online and am looking for something a
little more entertaining than just the run of the mill shooter. Thanks for
any suggestions you may have.

In that case, it's definately Serious Sam 1 & 2.
Cheers.

I understand quite well. Duke is very unique in that way. The game has
personality! My experience is somewhat limited in FPS, so best of luck. I
did remember a game a number of years back called "Redneck Rampage". It
looked rather fun, but not sure if it what it would do on todays operating
systems.

I wish the clowns would have came out with Duke Nukem forever like they've
been barking about for 10 years....Ohhhhh welllll....

They did have something unique. It really is a crime that they wouldn't
sell the franchise to someone who would use it. I really don't understand
where they're getting money to eat. I know Max Payne 1 and 2 got them some
cash, but DNF would be huge, even if it was mediocre. They've constantly
missed the boat. They seem to be like the guy who never buys a hardware
upgrade, cause a better piece will be out next month/year/decade for less.
Several excellent games have come along, and I'd say they where as good in
different ways. (hl/hl2/deusx/maxpayne/ss2/farcry) But Duke remains
special, and noone (except tribes) has had a decent Jetpack. Why is this
so F&^%ing hard? None had the over-the-top humor and fun quotient. Damn,
this really pisses me off...

I upgrade when I run out of fun games to play on my old system. Which is
hardly ever.

Bingo! You nailed it. They must seem so concerned that it be the most
technologically sound game right now and into the future that they drop the
ball everytime a new engine comes along. What do consumers do in the
meantime? They forget about it. They move to Unreal, Halo, etc. If they
*ever* come out with Duke, they will have missed 10+ years of gamers who
could have been hooked on the Duke franchise. They should have released
something years ago with the engines available at the time. It would have
kept the name and fan interest fresh.

Above and beyond all of that, though, is something that really pisses me
off. This line of bullshit really bugs me:

"DNF will be released "When It's Done." "

What a slap in the face for the consumer. We bust our asses at work every
day so we can make house payments and a afford few extras like games. I'd
been looking forward to DNF for years and years and years. Waiting. and
Waiting. And the best those guys can say for a release is "When It's Done".
Friggin arrogant. Give us a date or admit defeat.

Wait, I have a better idea now. I think I'll spend my money on DNF "When it
is in the clearance bin". Enjoy my quote, 3DRealms, as much as we've been
enjoying yours.

Signed,

Baron_Von_Fritter...almost 40 and just gave up on DNF...
