Where can I find all the Duke 3D TCs and levels worth playing without
being exposed to crappy levels and TCs (like that fantasy one where you
start on a ship)?

http://www.planetduke.com/msdn/ is probably a good place to look for
that kind of info.

I'm currently building a site that will have a lot more files than the
current Duke (and Doom) sites

I will post a bunch of TC's on it

Hurry up.
I like Duke 3D because I can play it on my crappy old PC. I like Build
because it aims for functionality over graphicaltude. I wish there were
more games like that.

A /new/ Duke3D site? Even though Duke 4 has disappeared like Saddam's
WMDs?

I admire your faith, man. :)

NUTMAN!!
He's still lurking in the shadows....
I've been playing FarCry and dabbling a bit with the editor. I think you'd
be a good Sanbox Ed kind of guy.
What say we make our own DNF (ha ha). If we'd started (back in the day) we'd
be finished by now.

STEVE! Yes, it is I, the Nutman. And how are YOU doing? :)
I've been playing mostly Doom 3, UT2K4 and Nolf 2 but I still find time to
visit the place where it all started (and will hopefully restart once DNF
comes out)

Let me know if you give FarCry a try. I really enjoyed it, once I got the

I did 32 maps in sequence. They were all published on the PC Gamer Magazine
CD. If you're interested, I could link you to them. Someone on this BB did a
small fix for me on 2 of the maps.
Anyway, if you're interested, let me know.

Best Maps-----> New Episodes
Look for "Steve Long E1, E2 and E3"
Once you have them, let me know and I'll see if I can send you a fix for 2
of the maps. Somehow, via compressing and uploading, 2 got a little messed
up. Since 32 exceeds the number of levels in the game, instruct players,
that when the series ends, single play:
Movies
Sealab67
EndWar
in that order. Maps contain many different innovations, like Clear water,
computer view screens, an entire level with no electricity (no lights or
working doors)- until you throw the main switch- ambulances, busses, squad
cars, jet fighters, all kinds of stuff. There is also a lone map called
"PCGamer" which was commisiioned by the magazine... the only time I've been
paid to do this! Also got an autographed copy of the game from the 3D Realms
developers.
Nutwrech and KC 2.0 were my main testers.

That would be me. The result is at:

    http://www.panix.com/~tehom/dukemaps/e1steve.zip

along with two of my own humble maps:

    http://www.panix.com/~tehom/dukemaps/floater.zip
    http://www.panix.com/~tehom/dukemaps/greensh.zip

Big digression ahead:

I did not know this at the time I made greensh.map, but Fort Trumbull,
the real-world navy base that corresponds to base at the upper left of
the map, surrounded by green opaque fencing, has been making national
(US) news. The neighborhood around it is at the center of a recent US
Supreme Court case on eminent domain.

It's pure co-incidence; I just based the map on part of my old
hometown, New London, CT. The base isn't really where it's depicted
on the map, but about 1/4 mile further up, on the opposite side of the
big street (Pequot Avenue), and actually covers a few city blocks, and
the disputed neighborhood extends a few blocks upwards of there.

Hi Steve! *waving*
Back when I was testing those maps you emailed to me, they were a loose
collection of .map and .txt files. I do hope you organized those maps into
a nice .GRP package so they don't mess up my directory? BTW any changes
from the version 1 I already have?

If yes, I might re-download them again from the Bug site. (Maaann, haven't
played any Duke in months; it was Borg Nukem last and not very good....)
