My friend did some beta testing for this game a few weeks ago. He said it was the best game he'd ever seen. He also said that it was more than enough game to tax even a top-of-the-line video card. Security for the beta testers was very tight. He would come in, they'd give him the CD, and he would test. The network was isolated from the outside world. When it was time to go home, he had to give the CD back. He estimates that it will be released in 4-6 months. Joel

He spent 10-12 hrs per day testing hardware compatibility and performance. He said the game is better than anything he's ever seen.

I heard the same line of crap about 4 years ago when people were saying how they were testing Duke 4ever with the unreal engine. YOU CAN'T BETA TEST VAPOR WARE. -- "Joel" <joels...@earthlink.net> wrote in message news:fc10e3c8.0302260944.22a95c4f@posting.google.com... > My friend did some beta testing for this game a few weeks ago. Bullshit what? If you didn't arrive at this newsgroup yesterday and paid attention from when Duke 3D was released you would have read some of the same posts that I did in previous years. Like I really have a group of peoples names from years ago that posted here. My feelings were that it was 3DRealms way of keeping people interested in the game, AKA VAPORWARE.. And it was not only a "his" name but a "her" also posting back then.....it was years ago. -- "Steve Griffiths" <sgrif...@paradise.net.nz> wrote in message news:MbUea.8104$8b.943982@news02.tsnz.net... > What is his name? Well said! It's a bit sad but I've kind of given up on Duke - I'm pissed of waiting for this "DN Forever" - just how long does it take to get a game together? HOW long has this game been in pending now 8 or 9 years. I think I
only have one version that runs well in windows the others used
special DOS boxes. this latest pushback has me wondering if this game
will ever be released. Chips and bits must have a couple of disk
drives full of preorders by now. If they're still interested anyway.
this is getting a little ridiculous.

3DRealms don't do outside beta testing.. all it's beta testing is internal. If your friend did beta test then he must work for 3DRealms.. if so post up his email address to confirm. I know for a fact though that no beta testing took place in February considering that the physics engine was still getting modified then. Next time research abit before posting up false facts.
