As much as I hate getting into these threads....
Most software license agreements nowadays are written with the idea in
mind that you _don't_ own the software, you merely own the rights to 
use a single copy of the software at any one time.  That is why users
are allowed to make backup copies of their games.

For the most part, though, you don't own the software just the media.
And opening the media is the implicit agreement to the license terms.
If you don't like it, don't open the media, just return the box.  As 
long as the disks are still shrinkwrapped, you should be able to return
them. 

As for your snoopy-poster argument, that is a ridiculous one.  The fact
is that piracy = theft, and no amount of moral arguments will be able
to conceal that fact.  People have not balked at theft in the past, so 
they will continue to not balk at piracy.  What pisses me off is when 
people get all self righteous about why they pirate software.
