Help Needed on Shrapnel City

At the beginning of this level, I am atop a tall building.  There seems
to be no way down but to jump (and lose 15-20 health points).  Is there
a way to get off the top of this building without getting hurt?

I'm on WinME, in case you need/want to know that.

Any help is much appreciated.
