That rotary switch opens sections of the bookshelves. Be sure you use
your crouch key and are close to the switch to make it work. You do not
have to do anything else in the level for it to work. If you move the
switch once, so it is in the full left position, the shelf to your far
left will open. The next position opens a section to the front right
where you will find some ammo. The third position opens the section in
the front left corner where there is a health kit. This is where you
want to go. Jump up into that section. It is a passage to the next area.
